me and my friend found saw the headstock of this thing sticking out of a dumpster a little while ago and we where blown away when we found that it was a gibson!

nah i dont think its real but it was free and do you guys think it'd be worth anything?

some of the inlays are misplaced and when i plug a cable into it i get no sound, its missing a nut and one of the tuners at the top

i think it looks pretty cool, what do you guys think?

Nothing to do with Gibson (it's definitely a Teisco) but it seems pretty cool. Fix it up, play it hard.

ironically, my friend found two of those in his neighbor's trash a few months ago. (yes, two of them).

You found it in the garbage? It may not be a Gibson
but I love those old guitars with a dozen pickups and numerous controls.
I hate you.
Found in the garbage ...
Smile when you say that.

As said, fo' sho' an old Teisco. My drummer has one similar that only has a neck pickup. I'm planning to fix it up with an SD Antiquity (re-covered in the badass pickup cover it has on it), new tuners, new electronics, and a TOM bridge since it doesn't have a bridge on it.

like others have said, it's definitely not a gibson.

it's undoubtably a cool retro guitar that may be worth fixing up as a project, but don't expect it to be amazing - there's probably a reason somebody chucked it out in the first place, and i'm going to guess "resale value". a guitar that is blatantly not a gibson that has "gibson" crudely painted on the headstock tends to be impossible to sell.
I like analogue Solid State amps that make no effort to be "tube-like", and I'm proud of it...

...A little too proud, to be honest.
#14
It looks like a 1962 Teisco SS-4L

It's clearly in a terrible state and will need a little bit more than just love and attention to get it into a playable state, and even then it will probably play like, and sound like, ass. If you can at least put some work into it, though, it's basically a collectors item for the future.

some kid wrote gibson on that piece of crap to get a feeling of playing the gibson.
kid was disappointed and decided to dump the P.O.S.

Great find, I think the TS knows it's not a Gibson.

These Japanese guitars are gaining in value quite a bit. I have a few customers/collectors who ask me to look for these for them.

It doesn't surprise me these get tossed people just do not know they have any value. I have found a few guitars in the trash and all of them were useable I think I posted two last year an Ibanez and BC Rich. I always have my eye out for stuff like that ever since I found a real Gibson Les Paul Standard in the trash in Brookline Ma. back in the 70s. 2nd best trash find in my life the first was a Japanese vase I got $3400.00 for at an antique shop. Now they have reality TV shows about stuff like this.

fake! that body shape is an epiphone wilshire!
and the Gibson name is drawn on
people make phony gibsons all the time
likely someone was trying to do just that, and messed it up
hence the dumpster

Its probably some horrible experiment that went wrong when a mad scientist tried making a Epiphone look like a Gibson...You could always nickname it the Frankengibson!
I hate all of you...my opinion is my own...take it or leave it

Fail !

Have you ever seen a Epi Wilshire ?
#23
It's definitely not a Gibson. Yet I think it could be a really neat guitar. Replace the lost tuner, fix up the wiring, polish the hardware and string it up and I bet it'll sound really f***ing cool.

it's stereo amp, and I don't think it's tube. However, for a stereo amp, it is very good. Don't plug guitar into it; just use it as hi-fi if it works.

lol @ all the people providing arguments against it being a Gibson. You'd think the blatantly written "Gibson" on the headstock would be a damn easy giveaway.

The glass case would be worth more than the guitar itself.
