A little extra melody would be nice. But "Ambient" is what it says in the tag, and ambient it is

Dude, I absolutely loved it. Music like this hits a sweet spot somewhere in my mind - just so downtempo and not demanding on the ears. FWIW, sounds like RHCP style to me. Very cool. I will agree with the guy above me to an extent - if you're going to play a 5 minute bass solo, you should start to switch it up a bit and build some tension near the middle, play some more complex lines etc, then break back down into the standard bass walk. Nonetheless, I found it very enjoyable to listen to. Would you mind if I layed a guitar track down over it?

Comment on my stuff please! https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1446065

coming from a guy who listens to among the living by anthrax basically every day, i really did love it. it was just so relaxing and i absolutely love the melody in the beginning. could have used some real drums with a bit more presence, but thats just my taste.

Then we all thought about it and realised Cherry Poppins was an amazing name for a porno.

Lulz were had but I'm sure you had to there.

Thanks man! Yeah I get the RHCP references a lot when I show other people, can't really say I'm complaining lol. As for the melody I'm trying to get my mind out of the rhythm rut which happens when I'm playing bass in the pocket, I just don't want to leave hahah but yeah definately something to look at for future stuff and dude it would be AWESOME if you wanted to layer some guitar over it, not sure if I enabled downloads on soundcloud but if you're keen I can send an mp3 over to you anyway.

Thanks again man!

Thanks man, yeah I'm a huge metal fan too but for some reason whenever I'm jamming on my bass this chilled stuff is all I can come out with . I'm just using some stock drum patterns that are already on my micro br recorder so I get what you mean about the lack of presence I can't say I'm a massive fan of the generic loop sound either.

Thanks again!

Yeah I was able to download it. I'll post it up here after I jam out over it and get a cool take.. Most likely tomorrow sometime. Keep it real!

Sorry this crit took so long. I've been busy lately, but here it goes:

You have a lot of good ideas here, and I like how low key it is, but this piece lacks direction. It sounds nice, but it's just... there, you know? A little bit of layering before the solo part would have done this piece good. Maybe some programmed synth pads or something would have really really given the song a lot more life. Drums are a little low in the mix sometimes, but I like what you did with the mix during the solo part. Keep working at it. Practice makes perfect!

That was good! I didn't think it was too long, it was really nice and relaxing. Maybe if I stared at the computer screen the whole time while listening to it, it would be, but for what is is (ambient) it was nice and relaxing. The bass sounded pretty cool, as well as the drums. I just wish there was a little bit more low end on the bass at some parts, but it's fine. Good job!
