I have a Cuban Tres I bought some years ago, secondhand. It is however, clearly not originally that instrument, but a Mexican requinto guitar that someone modified into a Cuban tres.

I would like to know if anyone has info on the original instrument. The label says:

Hand Made in Mexico

Bostan B&F Guitar

Model #301 Serial # 197360

Selva Negra Mexicana

The top is light-colored, much grain, gloss finish.

If anyone has any info on that model. I would be curious to hear it, including what kind of wood, and whether solid or laminate top.

Thanks in advance.

I found a B&F Classical guitar on Ebay, and judging by the pictures, it looks to be Engleman spruce for the top (fairly common on classicals, next to cedar). The sides looked to be mahogany, but the back perplexed me...it's a two-piece back, but the wood grain doesn't resemble mahogany at all. I don't know if this is the same model you have, but it's all I could find. Hope this helps.
