Congratulations, everyone is a finalist! Put it on your resume.

your curls wrapped around the thoughts i kept buried
had them carried away in a whim soft as air
i know nothing of people
i know nothing of speaking
it just comes like an impulse i cannot contain

you're so pretty today in your lacy eyelashes
with your dress on your thighs and your thoughts on my tongue
i thought i was clever and you thought i was caring
you're so young, god, you're so young
you're so young.

Paleontology

Arms ringed by halos or bracelets stolen from the coat check,
descendents of the window-dwelling sunrise watchers,
their legs dangle over the brick alleys
responsible for shadows you could see from outer space.

Who heard them first is not clear
the chalked squares and dancing stick figures glow
illuminated by dawn's breath, signaled in by starlings and sparrows
whom I suspect first witnessed the caravan's arrival.

All the pigeons are dead.
Yesterday I saw their silhouettes disintegrate
against the afternoon sun, but their feathers remain
etched in the mortar, fossils of another day.

Her dreams last for months at a time,
and if she would ever find the end of the hedge-maze,
she'd probably lose her mind, though this past evening
I saw her calling out to the stars for someone to make her human again.

This is the procession, the dirty fingernailed carpenters
and craftsman who will build her back up
board by board, brick by brick
from the ghost she has become.

I saw an ant the
other day,
wondering around on a big lonely wind-swept
slab of concrete brutally searching for whatever he saw in this
loneliness.
That entrepreneur.
That maverick,
that fewer-celled Rockefeller, enterprising and daring to
seek fortune on something as lifeless and uncaring as steel
or concrete. And his friends back home in the grass
wonder why the fuck he
did that,
and my friends here on the frying-pan concrete
squish him and he wonders the same
softly to the microscopic ridges and valleys where
his organsandblood seepingly pool.

She Knows Nothing of the Lovechild

A man died recently after a bartender
served a drunk customer a full pint of spirits.
his spirit will not live on.

If she's taken by me, and we kiss, will I deserve it?
Will there be too much responsibility for my masturbated,
magnetized lifestyle that I have heedlessly created?

I've offered nothing in the way of true honesty,
for my thoughts are still my own,
and my lovechild of inertia and disquiet remains asleep.

If she's taken by me, will I be tricking the most polite
and the most prettiest girl I've ever felt freedom with
into believing I have none of these problems?

A man died recently after he gave up on the spirit.
his spirit will not live on.

it forgot to brush its teeth
all yellow
now it sings, on display
fluttering its feathers
if you could only see what i see'

We need to break the tie between orange, magenta and green, so I guess if anyone wants to do that then just post. If not I'll have to post a tie-breaking thread i guess.
