Post pictures of your guitars.

I dont own a camera. I have a Droid which doesn't like light very well. So the angle is a bit odd.

WoW Broonzy that is some fine looking inlay work!! I would look at how you have your strings wound though,, looks like a recipe for nut buzz or headstock buss.

I didn't think you're meant to put steal strings on those kinds of tuning pegs. Aren't they for nylon strings?

I'll add pics of mine when I can find out how to from my iPad.

Edit: okay, figured it out. It's currently my favorite guitar, bought it last month.

No. You can have slotted headstocks like that for steel stringed guitars too. Looks a bit more traditional. Just as stable as any other headstock.
Equipment:
- Art & Lutherie Cedar CW (SOLD! )
- Martin D-16RGT w/ LR Baggs M1 Active Soundhole Pickup
- Seagull 25th Anniversary Flame Maple w/ LR Baggs Micro EQ

most slotted headstocks I have seen using steel strings,, they take the outer nylon cover off the tuner post & fit them without the nylon bit ,,, see pic something to do with tune-ability of differing stretch rate materials (i.e. how nylon strings stretch Vs how steel strings stretch) I have read about it when building a banjo with the same type slotted tuners & steel strings.

I knew I had one of My guitars with slotted headstock.
My trusty FG-260 Yamaha (12 string)
