But yes it is broken (a part is destroyed) and I don't want to pay to fix it when I can get a better guitar

yoused? Really? the word is used.

Anyway... unless the neck snapped in half it's probably repairable.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

So you come here and tell to a bunch of guitarists that your guitar just "broke" and you're actually not going to tell us how? What does "a part is destroyed" mean? Like, the pickups just exploded or the neck went into spontaneous combustion or what?

I think he was trying to make a joke about combining the words you and used.

OT: It should be repairable, just take it to your guitar shop and they'll take a look at it, if you don't know what happened.

You can buy a new locking nut. I bought an entire new locking nut for my Ibanez RG320 when I was fixing it up. I think it cost me around $25.

Just find out what size it is and get a replacement. I got mine on ebay. Since it's an Ibanez, I'll just throw out that it's most likely an R3.

Here: you're in luck. This is far cheaper than the ones I could find when I had to get one. http://cgi.ebay.com/Ibanez-R-43-Edge-Locking-Nut-Rg-350-550-570-770-Jem-/190532766818?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item2c5ca34c62
