Hey everybody. Not sure where to put this. Let me know if it needs to be moved.

I recently started to get into electronic music, or more accurately, electronic music that is very melodic and that has a lot of pop sensibility. I.e., not the boring electronic drivel that just beats one riff or motif to death for 5 minutes. I want something a little more intricately structured, and that has enjoyable melodic content, as well as a good bit of a beat (percussion of some sort). Tons of good synths, something that sounds smooth and nice and clean and colorful. You know what i mean?

Does this fit the bill for anything any of you have ever heard? Or are my wants just too good to be true, and something like what i described just doesn't exist yet?

My knowledge only goes as far as like Daft Punk and Phonat. Halp!

It's also a plus if the music would sound appropriate whilst staring at any of these images:

Thanks!

maybe Intelligent Drum and Bass would interest you?
There's no such thing; there never was. Where I am going you cannot follow me now.

I think what you're after is the kinda new music movement in Japan, it's really melodic, sometimes eery type composing, it's strange and the stuff i've linked is just a glimpse.

Maybe try some dubstep ?
Artists like Ventian Snares or Skrillex:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PBeKzVhWHY

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSeNSzJ2-Jw

Altough Venetian Snares focuses on organic instruments
And Skrillex has drops, maybe that's not what you're looking for
But most dubstep has electronic instruments in combination with interesting percussion beats

Knew it was only a matter of time until someone mentioned dubstep.

TS, ever check out Pendulum? They may or may not be what you're looking for.

Venetian Snares is not dubstep at all and is completely different from Scrillex...

I do recommend Venetian Snares or maybe I Broke My Robot. See if those do it for you.

Yeah I know, just didn't know what to classify it under
Although people call everything with a electronic beat under it dubstepp these days

^Venetian snares is dubstep now? no no no

It is IDM (Intelligent Dance Music). I highly recommend it though, along with Aphex Twin, maybe some psytrance stuff too - 1200 micrograms, infected mushroom, astral projection. Mmmmm.

Yeah, I'm not quite sure myself but I know it's not dubstep... I personally hate that genre. I've seen some live videos of Skrillex and his equipment isn't even plugged in to anything.

I should elaborate more on what i'm going for.

I want NOTHING ambient. I can't stand that. I want something that gets your attention and keeps it, and it definitely helps if the music in a major tonality.

Things like these, but even BETTER!

(don't be thrown by the owl city thing. even though as a project i like owl city too. no vox, just synths and funtimes. this one is awesome.)
