I picked this poster up at a music merch store a while ago. I can't really find any info on it, so I was wondering if any fellow metal heads knew aboot it. It's a painting called the History of Metal by a guy named Calvert done in '93. Awesome ass poster.

Anyways, see if you can find anybody in it. So far me and my brother found:

Metallica
GN'R
Van Halen
Megadeth (Dave, I think...)
Aerosmith (Steven Tyler)
Ozzy
Dio
Kiss
Jimi Hendrix
Led Zeppelin
Kurt Cobain
Alice Cooper
AC/DC
The Scorpions
Wasp

Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus
Jackson King V
Jackson Kelly
Handmade Gibson Les Paul
Marshall JCM2000 DSL100/JCM900 1960 Lead cab

Nikki from Motley Crue

Lemmy, bottom right smoking a cigarette.

Rob Halford with hair bottom left

Edit: Also, I think that's a very young Bruce Dickinson right next to Dave Mustaine

Def Leppard
Journey
Tool
Testament
Megadeth
Slayer
Mastodon
Deftones
Alice in Chains
Foo Fighters
Rodrigo y Gabriela

At this point I'd be more surprised if you found me a Christian children's entertainer that didn't sodomize and eat kids.

Rock N Roll Theater

Beat that.

It's tough to see the ones at the top, but this is a pretty awesome poster. I've got the physical copy.

The latest artist on it is Kurt Cobain though (maybe, just maybe, Beck is on there, I'm still not sure).

WHAT?! That one's in colour? I got ripped off. B&W is still a cool effect though.

Thanks everyone for your help, I was born in '93 so I don't really know what most of these guys looked like.

I think the best way to find out all the people is to use the numbering system that they used.

The guy they numbered as 2 should be easy to recognise with the tattoo (the one that has a snake and says heavy metal), but so far I've come up with nothing.

I think 5-8 are members of parliament/funkadelic with 6 being George Clinton

There is a great website out there dedicated to providing a key for the Rock n Roll Theatre poster. It even has input from the artist himself, Howard Temen. Check it out:
