So my computer printer has just decided to give up the fight for life. I have a huge amount of assessment tasks in the next 3 weeks for school, so I'm going to need a good printer soon. Just wondering what are some good brands/models that you've had experience with. I'm not too fussed about the price, but my parents no doubt are so the cheaper the printer is, the better. But I'd rather have a good quality, long lasting, expensive printer than a cheap, bad quality, short lasting printer.

I've heard Gutenburg was a good printer.

OT: Epson. HP. Lexmark are alright-ish.

A good printer would be one that never gave you any trouble. So no, there are none, atleast in my experience.

Oh, if you have Windows 7, don't get a Lexmark X5470. They haven't released a driver for it, so it won't work.

Any Epson or Canon printer should be decent. Have had a Canon printer for nearly 5 years now and it hasn't given me any trouble

Just find out how fast they print. It's really annoying having a printer that prints one page in 10-20 seconds. Get one of those that just spits them out in no time. I think laserprinters do that.

in my experience, modern printers all suck. My family had an old Deskjet 600 from the early 90s that lasted all the way until 3 or 4 years ago (it even printed colour with a driver update), since then we've had a Photosmart 2575 and it's been a total pain in the arse, paper jams and software bugs and such.

Your best bet is to find whichever printer has the cheapest ink and buy it in the knowledge that you probably won't get more than a few years out of it anyway.
You're using UG classic, congratulations.
You should be using UG classic.

^ True that. In my experience with printers, Epson are one of the most dependable printers I have used. Others are just ripped off. The replacement cartridges seem unfairly priced and always encounter problems. Anyway, check google for Epson reviews.
