Hello all, I am in need of some help, if you can. I have a vintage Sony ECM-19b Condenser Mic. It is a battery powered mic, using a single AA batter. When I record with it, I get pops and clicks like random volume peaks and drops, sometimes subtle, sometimes extreme. I was wondering if you could help me diagnose my problem, so I can use it.

First off, I don't have a lot of money.

Second, it is a mono plug, left only. I plug it into my stereo computer audio jack.

I have Ubuntu Netbook Remix installed as my OS, without windows. And use Audf acity for my recording program.

Diagnosis 1: I can record with my built in microphone, and the only problem is static in the background.

Diagnosis 2: No matter how I plug my microphone in[either all the way, or partially] I still get the pops and clicks.

Diagnosis 3: The battery was fully charged last night.

So now my question: Am I screwed with this mic? Does my rechargable battery cause these pops and clicks? Is the capacitor going bad?

Here is an audio clip I recorded just for the clicks to be heard.

The second is a song I'm working on, with the noticeable clicks and pops in the solo.

The rhythm/voice track was recorded with the built in mic, the solo track has the pops and clicks. If you'd like the AUP file to see the wav form in the solo, request it.
I got some good guitars, yo.
