When I sing I can get on pitch but the tone to my ears sounds bad
Do you guys know any vocal exercises I could do to have better tone?

Thanks

1. Open your mouth wider
2. make use of your diaphragm
3. Lift your soft pallet
4. Get into the music
5. Bel Canto

Look up tutorials on the above. You'll be drowning in exercises and work that WILL improve your tone.

I thought Bel Canto tells you to NOT open your mouth wider?

Does singing along to your favorite songs improve tone also?

Every person have their own tone, you can't change that with exercises.
However, try working on your pronounciation. I know it sounds a little wack, but focus on pronouncing the words clearly. This is very important, you will sound much better.

Practicing in your most comfortable notes, and I bet you will figure it out. Theres a few things to know like Smile Yawn inhale. But when working on technique its always best to stay as comfortable as you can.

Singing to other singers may or may not be good. I find it best for me to sing alone to my guitar. singing to other singers may be putting you in an uncomfortable spot in your voice. every singer must find there own voice because there you will improve much better and faster.
