I searched but i couldn't really find a thread already...which is either very surprising, or i just didn't look hard enough...id assume i didn't look hard enough.

but what are you guys favorite guitar solos (within a song)? for example, as much as i love songs like cliffs of dover (eric johnson) and always with me, always with you (joe satriani), i don't consider those guitar solos.

my top three, in no particular order:

-afterlife - avenged sevenfold
-time - pink floyd
-octavarium - dream theater

Alice In Chains - Nutshell

Hands down my favorite guitar solo ever.

Beyond that, I think the both solos in All That Remains - The Air that I Breathe are amazing.
Do you feel warm within your cage?

And have you figured out yet -

I LOVE the symphony of destruction solo by megadeth, and hangar 18. Also, a new level by pantera has a great solo.

Yeah ABR's solos are awesome. I particularly love the one in Ocean of apathy.

Audioslave - The Last Remaining Light

This song's solo is incredibly simple but that doesn't take away the fact that it's stunningly beautiful

If you're talking a typical metal solo, then probably the outro solo of "I Know It Hurts" by Alter Bridge, or maybe the outro for "Second Heartbeat" by Avenged Sevenfold. But I also really like the solo in the version of "The Man Who Sold the World" that Nirvana did for MTV Unplugged. It gives me chills...

From the Outside by All That Remains, the song as a whole is pretty mediocre though, but the note choice in the beginning of said solo is ****ing incredible. Actually any ATR solo is normally pretty sweet..
