It says they were involved with hacking PSN and a few other things.

Also calls them "hacktivists"

Thoughts?

Police told Reuters all three men were Spanish and in their 30s.

After I found this article I went straight to the source and found a thread there about it too

Apparently the Spanish police claim the found the HQ of Anonymous and the guys they arrested were leaders.

Lol. First problem, proving they're part of Anon. Second problem, proving that these individual members had anything to do with the hacking of Sony..

I foresee this being a circus.
Wouldn't the police need evidence in order to arrest them?

headquarters? So basically one of their parent's houses where they gathered in the basement for weekly meetings. And they were probably "leaders" in the same way that the mods here are leaders of the pit.

Just about every time an Anon-related arrest is made whoever is making it claims to have infiltrated the network and found the leaders .

I got the impression that LulzSec were a group of Anons that joined up, so, I'd call them a separate entity to Anon. A splinter cell, if you will

Poor them, I bet they were so excited about 'finding the Anon leader'. I bet he ran home and told his wife, and his two little daughters were so proud. Poor guy.

And didn't the Anonymous claim they had nothing to do with this?

As I understand it Anon never hacked the PSN...

Also, the whole point of Anon is that they're anonymous. So, I don't think these guys were actually part of that group. They may claim to be so, but I highly doubt it. Anon's not stupid enough to get caught.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/299158/news/anonymous-denies-responsibility-for-psn-attack-taunts-opponents-video/

I was going on stuff like that, and other conversations I'd seen on here regarding the matter. My understanding was that anon took responsibility for attacks they did, so I'd assumed they didn't really have anything to do with it when they denied they'd done it.

As a whole, Anonymous isn't stupid enough to get caught. These individuals could be, but the bitch about cracking down on Anonymous is that of most terrorist organizations: they are highly decentralized.

Although claiming they have the leader made me chuckle.

IIRC, yes. They're quite modest for a bunch of cyber terrorists.

I'm so confused. I always thought Anon was just /b/ but then people act like its some group of hackers. Is there a group of hackers named Anon, or is this just hilariously giving way too much credit to /b/?

They're a group of activists with a strong hacker contingent with ties/roots in /b/, which is probably where the name came from. As far as I know moot expresses no affiliation or connection, not least for legal reasons since they're tried to nail him to the wall before.

They have no idea how big Anon actually is. More than likely they just caught a few grunts if they're even involved with Anon, but to think they caught 'the leader' of anon is just precious.

So are they really some sort of big deal? This all just sounds too rediculous to be true. I highly doubt they're really any sort of threat.
