Hi guys, I was cleaning out my garage today and found a Marshall Goldback Series 12" speaker that I got on warranty a long time ago and never used because I bought an Eminence for that amp.

Anyway, it's brand new and I'd like to learn a little about it if I could.

I now have a Peavey 6505+ 112 amp and will eventually replace the Sheffield in it. I was just wondering if this speaker might be an upgrade (or a downgrade), or if it will even work in my 6505.

All it says on the back is "Marshall GoldBack Series, SPK 65, 8 Ohms, 70W RMS"

It was the warranty replacement for a blown speaker in my old VS65R, so I'm skeptical whether it could handle the 6505+, lol.

If it's not worth keeping, I'd like to pass it along to someone else - any idea on what it might be worth?

Thanks!

If it's 70 watts, it should be capable of handling the 6505+ 112.

A quick Google reveals that most people don't like them. Your Sheffield might even be a better speaker already.

That's kind of what I was thinking. If I upgrade the speaker in my 6505 in the future, it will be the best speaker available.

Any idea what I should ask for this Marshall speaker?
