Keep in mind, I'm not asking which you believe in, but which one you would prefer to be real. There's no evidence for any type of afterlife, nor a lack of one, so this isn't really supposed to be about the merits of arguments for the different types existing, but the merits of what they would be like.

Poll coming, but here's the list:

Reincarnation, Type A (Complete memory erasure)
Reincarnation, Type B (Vague imprints of previous lives, as in feelings, not concrete memories)
Heaven/Hell, Type A (eternal placement)
Heaven/Hell, Type B (temporary)
No afterlife

No afterlife.

I was figuring someone would say this and it makes me curious. May I ask why?

Life after death is supposedly really dull, either in heaven or hell.

this reminds me of a joke.

An American man and a Soviet man died on the same day and went to Hell together. The Devil told them: "You may choose to enter two different types of Hells: the first is the American-style, where you may do anything you like, but at the condition of eating a bucketful of manure everyday; the second is the Soviet-style, where you may ALSO do anything you like, but at the condition of eating TWO bucketfuls of manure a day." The American man chose the American-style Hell, and the Soviet man chose the Soviet-style one. A few months later, they met again. The Soviet man asked the American man: "Hi, how are you going?" The American man said:"I'm fine, but I can't stand the bucketful of manure everyday. How about you?" Answered the Soviet man: "Well, I'm fine, too; except I don't know whether if we had a shortage of manure or if anybody stole all the buckets away."
There's no such thing; there never was. Where I am going you cannot follow me now.

I like reincarnation type B. If I got to choose my own afterlife, that is.

Well, in the Heaven/Hell format, yes. But you would prefer cessation to another round of life?

Hm. I'm not sure. Some people just want to live the life they have, and are totally okay with dying eventually. Maybe they don't want to go through the effort of another life. That's sort of how I feel, at least.

Fair enough. I mean, I don't think you can live life fully without acknowledging death, but I see it like a movie. After a good movie, even if you know that sequels are never as great, you look forward to one.

Yeah, I see what you mean.

On another not, I feel that you can't live life fully without acknowledging that there is no afterlife, and there is no objective 'meaning' to life.

Being re-incarnated with no traces of your former self doesn't really seem like much of a re-incarnation at all.

I went for temporary Heaven/Hell, cos I'm a tad indecisive about how I want to spend eternity.

I wouldn't say that's true. You can live a life fully, believe in an afterlife, and have a "I'll cross that bridge when I get there" mentality. If you're living your life fully, happily, and as morally as you see fit, then there's nothing to worry about in the afterlife and it doesn't affect this world.

I dunno. I think that you need to have full acceptance that this is your only chance--don't fuck it up.

Fair enough, and I think this is your only chance in this situation, that we know of.

Similar, but slightly different, I suppose.

Not necessarily, Reincarnation A means you're reincarnated but just don't realise, no afterlife means you rot in the ground forever and don't realise.

Not at all. Heaven is most often described as being very dull and monotonous. So it's basically an eternity of listening to Foo Fighters.
