Hey all
Just gotta Breedlove for my first 12-string adventure and it's awesome
I was wondering... has anyone (UG or famous) every tried tuning the 2 sets of different strings into a different tuning?

What i mean is, instead of the standard eEaAdDgGbBeE, tune the higher/lower strings to a full tone down (dEgAcDfGaAdE), or a third, or fifth.

It's just the first idea that came in my head, and I was curious if anyone ever tried it

might as well right
i think the fifth would be cool but would be too hard for string tension

i guess ill give it a shot

I once tuned mine in 4ths, bE eA aD dG f#B bE, sounded pretty cracking from what I remember. Made open chords sound absolutely huge, but the intonation went out, from tuning thr octave strings down so low.

Right now, there are six and a half billion people on earth who don't care what kind of tubes you have in your amplifier

The only alternate tuning I ever tried was dDaAdDdDaAdD.
It's used a lot by David Crosby (Music is love for example)
Has a nice drone sound.
Also used it on my 6 string as well.
