1984-87 made in Japan strat. Got it from a friend for $80 it's kind of beat (some pretty big dings) and some things need some work. Doesn't have the back plate or the tremolo bar so I didn't know if it was a great deal or not. Let me know.

What does the headstock say. You know, about the brand....

Probably just your typical 80s strat copy.

Edit: Fender name for $80 is always a good deal.

Don't think it's a copy I've looked the serial up on that guitar project site, it says 84-87 made in Japanese plant

some people really like these jap strats, they do have kind of a following though i wouldn't really call them 'chase gear' but i think they play well.

my experience with them has been good, usually the weakest component is the pups. i think you got a steal for 80 bucks. you are going to be hard pressed to find a nicer playing guitar for that price range.
punk isn't dead, it's always smelled that way.

Here's the bridge. I have that missing fine tuner thing it just won't stay in.

Some weird knob that doesn't affect the tone at all. lol

Nice find! It looks to be in pretty good shape, I was expecting chunks missing from the body.

The dings are on the sides by the strap buttons and stuff

great deal for the price. the whammy bar may be a bit hard to find as they haven't made that style bridge in many years (it's a locking bridge for those who aren't familiar) tone know should be an easy fix.

With "friends" like you, I don't think enemies are needed. You ripped your "friend" a new asshole me thinks. 80 bucks is a steal

He's left it at my house for the past couple years, he doesn't play and I asked him how much he wanted before I moved away for college. lol

There's much more buzz when I'm playing compared to my Gibson SG is this just how strats sound or is there something wrong

most well set up strats (for me anyway) buzz like crazy.

probably my piss poor technique at least partly.
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, then it hit me.

I didn't mean fret buzz I meant from the amp. Didn't know if there was a misunderstanding here.

you mean 60 cycle hum? in pup positions 1, 3 and 5 it's to be expected unless you have noiseless pups. (which that doesn't, i'm fairly certain.)

Well, I'm actually a 60's model. I am far more vintage than something made in the 80's.

Don't know I was askin'.

Yeah it hums in those pickup positions, so that's normal?

I guess if you are really young things made in the 80's might seem vintage but to old farts like myself that was just a few years ago.
