Alright, so I've got an $800 budget and I want to get a versatile tube amp that I can play both in my bedroom and out on my deck or with a band where I can crank it up a bit. I am looking for something with a really nice clean channel, something reminiscent of a Fender amp that is both sparkly but can have a good bass response as well. On the gain settings I am mostly looking for a modern rock tone (Foo Fighters are my favorite band) and be able to push it into the "lighter" end of metal (something like the damned things distortion levels, definitely no thrash or death metal). I know of course that tube amps sound better cranked but I am really leaning towards one as solid states rarely have the tonal capabilities I am looking for. Here are the amps I've considered. (I love the Mesa Boogie sound, generally Marshall don't have the bass tightness and oomph I am looking for and I really don't like the sound of Peavey's as they are too mid-heavy for me.) All of these I have heard can get good tone at a bedroom volume which is why I'm considering them.

Mesa Boogie Express 5:25 (I know it can't do metal but the cleans are stellar)
Mesa Boogie Rectoverb 50 combo
Mesa Boogie Mark IV combo
Mesa Boogie F30 combo
Line 6 Vetta II

I know these amps don't fit my budget, but I have seen used ones go for under $800 and I have the patience to wait til a good deal comes around.

Which one of these would you pick, or if none do you know something better?

Here are some amps I've tried and didn't like:

Blackstar ht-5
Marshall JCM combos
Peavey Vypyr Tube
B-52 AT112 (too loud)
Line 6 Spyder (P.O.S.)
Bugera 333xl (didn't like the clean channel)

Thanks in advance, and feel free to refer me to your thread if you need an opinion on anything!

Can't argue with a Boogie Mark IV combo if you can get one for $800, everything i've heard about them has been great and the tone is awesome, although i've never tried one myself...

EDIT: I'll be damn impressed if you can find one for $800, but good luck to you :P
Periphery, love that shit!

Right now, there are six and a half billion people on earth who don't care what kind of tubes you have in your amplifier

Eh....I don't really like the Carvin all that much. It sounds a bit too harsh for my taste. I really like the sound of mesas better.

would you like to share what your closest major city is?

The Express series didn't do much for me - I'd go for a Mark or Trem/Rect-overb would be sweet.

Check out an Egnater Renegade.

+1, that is actually what I was thinking too. I've seen the heads go for $750 used.

Also, I thought it was odd that you disliked the B52 because it was 'too loud'
