I really do have almost all I want when it comes to pedals...but one pedal that I've been itching to try ever since it came out was the Suhr Riot. If the demos were to be believed, this pedal is the best thing since sliced bread. It's a distortion pedal capable of an extremely huge range of tones, and able to turn a totally clean amp into a raging metal monster. Problem is...I could never find one to test out, and I don't like buying pedals sight unseen. Today I had some time to kill so I wandered into my local mom'n'pop shop, and lo and behold someone had brought one in last night, new and never used. I tried it for 5 minutes and knew I'd be going home with it. It ended up being almost half the price of a new one online.

My camcorder is dead at the moment so I can't post any videos, but here's a pic or two. You have to love the color:

All in all I must call this the finest pedal I have ever experienced. I love my BB preamp to death and it's never coming off my board, but what this pedal does for high gain tone is simply unrivaled. It really is like adding a whole new channel to your amplifier, and the pedal really does respond like a quality tube amplifier. Here's a great demo online until I can get my video runnin' again to shoot some clips (credit to Mr. Pete Thorn for his awesome demo clip!):

Anyway, this pedal gets 10 stars outa 5 from me. I am absolutely amazed at what this single pedal did for my tone, which I already thought was pretty darn good. Highly recommended!!

looks nice! cant wait to hear clips. if you dont mind, could you take a simple request? haha. i'd like to hear the distortion from the riot boosted by the bb preamp. the same way you would boost an amp's distortion. im just thinking it could result in a very thick, distinct high gain tone and i want to hear it!

Well, like anything else it's really based on what amp you try it with. I tried it in the store with an Egnater and it was pretty good. Took it home and dropped it on my Mesa's clean channel and it REALLY came alive. Sings like a bird! I honestly have never been so impressed with a pedal.

Inanez, if I understand you correctly you want me to basically run the Suhr as I normally do and then the bb preamp just as a boost, basically just bump the volume up on the BB while leaving all the other controls off?

Yeah dirt pedals work better on some amps, but I found other pedals that sound better

What he wants you to do is pretend you Riot is the amps distortion and boost it with the BB like you normally would with a TS.

Gotcha. Will do when my video's up and runnin'!

Until then, this one ain't gettin' pried from my clutches. I can't believe the versatility of what this pedal can do.

Wasn't really fond of it when I tried it.

Happy New Pedal Day nonetheless

I agree with you 100%, it was a solid pedal but nothing mindblowing.

If you love it more power to you, Happy New Pedal Day!

After testing it today with a cranked amp in the studio, please take my above review and add 100 extra stars to it. This thing is just amazing. Even with a cranked dual rectifier (the 3 channel, not my tremoverb), it took out everything I didnt like and gave me a perfectly fluid lead tone that was just to die for. Thanks Suhr!

I like the Riot - but I prefer my Triple Wreck for high gain, and my RAT for gritty low gain. I generally use the Riot for somewhere in between.

Definitly needs a nice, cranked tube amp to get the best out of it.

That's what my Mesa stack is for .

SHOW ME THE TITS... I mean custom guitars...

And definitely gotta hear this pedal

EDIT: Ah, I remember the Dragonburst LP build thread
Then there's this band called Slice The Cake...

Bunch of faggots putting random riffs together and calling it "progressive" deathcore.
Stupid name.
Probably picked "for teh lulz"

Thanks man. I know it's far from everyone's cup of tea but I really dig it too. I wanted a kind of ocean meets forest effect and I think we pretty much hit the nail on the head there.

I LOVE the Errie Dess Swirl finish on that Jackson.
You have some freakin sexy guitars man.

Thanks! I was originally going to make that first custom guitar 100% made from scratch the way my next two were, but when I found this jackson body I fell in love with it so I decided to just have a neck made for it. And yeah, I rearranged my studio the other day and realized I'm quite content with things. I started with a 90 dollar Epiphone and a fender frontman 15G...so I'm definitely appreciating what I have nowadays.
