If I could write / produce / perform music like anyone in the world, it would have to be Beirut. I love the imagery and emotion it evokes and everything about it really.

That's not to say they are my favourite band (artist?) in the world, but I think it would be the best music to make (if that makes sense).

Anyway, how about you?

I would say Tim Collis. The man does not get the respect he deserves.

I would like to be able to write and compose music like myself in 10 years, only now. I also want the guitar and production skills I hope to have in 10 years.

As my old guitar teacher once said: Metal really comes from classical music. The only difference is pinch harmonics, double bass, and lyrics about killing goats.

Rebecca Black. She shot to fame!

Seriously though i'd have to say probably Matt Bellamy. There are tonnes of better lyricists i'll agree, but i'd love to write songs like him.

As well as Collis, I agree with this: his ability to write good songs is pretty impressive. He's a fairly experimental guy

Undoubtedly being able to compose classical music. Not one specific composer. I wish I had the knowledge and skill to compose something big and breath taking.

That would create a positive feedback loop that would make you the best guitar player and rip a hole in space time.

Brian Wilson, hands down. The man is nothing short of a genius.

Seriously? He's badass, especially Miles of Machines, but most of his work is just arpeggios.

I would say Dylan

She didn't write any of that song, it was all done for her

On topic, Kris Angylus of The Angelic Process. Never heard so much raw emotion in a song.

Most likely Steve Wilson if I had to choose just one person. All of his music is just right. It's too hard to single out one artist, though, after all, music is a mash-up of different inspirations and influences.

Steve Vai. Often overlooked as just another shredder, the man's a musical genius, and a rather good studio producer.
