when you decide to right a song you think what shall i write about, and thats probably the hardest part. especially when you are writing your first song. here is a few things to get you started.

1. write a list of titles (maybe get some ideas from the media or any that pops up in your head.

2. pick one and write a list of words or phrases to do with the title.

3. write another list of opposites

4. think about the structure. a structure you might want to start with is verse, chorus, verse, chorus, verse, bridge, chorus. (if you need me to explain what they are, ask me).

5. put a beat into you head, you know to get you into the rhythm.

6. start writing your first verse, you might want to add some rhyming, metaphors, similes, etc. and use your lists to help. make sure it makes sense and all the sentences flow.
for example:my title is Dont make me apologise

im just a kid,
i dont realise what im doing,
so dont punish me for what ive done,
belows where i hid,
so they can forgive all my sins,
so the wrong is long and gone.

7. next think about the chorus, this somes it all up and explains what the song is about, usually the title is in the chorus.
for example: my chorus of Dont make me apologise is,

if you think im gonna apologise,
to you,
then i think you are wrong,
so dont make me apologise,
to you,
because i aint done nothing wrong.

8. if your verse is quite slow and you want the chorus to be up beat, try adding a pre-chorus in which will increase the tempo to your song. add the pre-chorus after the verse.
for example, my pre-chorus for Dont make me apologise is,

you accused me,
when i did right,
then you contol me,
then we fight,
so theres no way im going to say sorry to you.

9. do the second verse, which is the kinda the same as the first verse.

10. add the chorus

11. add another verse, you might want it the same as the second but you can make it different.
for example. my third verse of Dont make me apologise is.

so tell me what is wrong,
cause i dont know yet,
tell me now,
your taking to long.

12. if you want you can add a bridge which can be found after either verses 2 and 3. its like a verse but with a different tempo or beat and can be a introduction to the last chorus.

13. then you have finished, you might want to add in the melody.

i would like to see your song so post it on here. if there is any thing wrong with this thread, tell me and i will change it. please comment because this is my first lesson.

my whole song is,

(verse1)
im just a kid,
i dont realise what im doing,
so dont punish me for what ive done,
belows where i hid,
so they can forgive all my sins,
so the wrong is long and gone.

(pre-chorus)
you accused me,
when i did right,
then you contol me,
then we fight,
so theres no way im going to say sorry to you.

(chorus)
if you think im gonna apologise,
to you,
then i think you are wrong,
so dont make me apologise,
to you,
because i aint done nothing wrong.

(verse2)
dont mess with me,
you have messed up my mind,
so dont expect me to know whats wrong,
can you save me,
from the devil i will go to,
i hope you dont take long.

(pre-chorus)

(chorus)

(verse3)
so tell me what is wrong,
cause i dont know yet,
tell me now,
your taking to long.

(pre-chorus)

(chorus)

try singing it and if it doesnt sound right, maybe change some sentences or words so the melody is right. also think about the amount of syllables in each sentence. if its a fast song, add more syllables, if its a slow song add less syllables.
