i want to backlight my amp...something cool and unusual to do...

i'm looking to use this...

a couple questions though...

has anyone done it like this before?
i want to run it off of a 9V battery...how hard to hook it up will it be?
the front grill on my amp has a 1/2" ledge on the inside, i was just going to "tie" it to the grill...think the glass will break while being moved?

this tube is a little shorter that i want...was looking more in the 24", so maybe i can chain them together?

the other option was this...i know i can run this off of a 9V...two even...

but the thing is...i figured the light may be a little more "even" with the tube...

any ideas?

Super bright LED's would probably be the easiest and the best. They could be run of 9v real easy. I'm working on lighted speaker cab and amp piping right now. Should be cool when I'm done.

the LEDs would be a better option if you wat to avoid any interference from the cc tube

you could probably get it to work with a 9v, but why not hook it up to a 12v tap on the PT instead?

Why not just wire it to the power on light? That may be enough, depending on what kind of light bulb it uses.

does the tap send DC voltage? will it not cause interference in the amp?

the tap would be AC, but by that I meant grab the 12v, have a little recifier/filtering circuit, then the LEDs. that way it's all contained in one package, sorta. it would be like adding LEDs into the amp rather than adding a standalone set of batteries and LEDs into the amp, yknow?

you know...i had thought of that...maybe getting a two colour strand...hook it to the standby switch...one colour when on standby and the other while running
