an Ernie Ball regular 0.36 gauge A-string after just two weeks of having it on.

I was playing Crazy Train, a fill which goes: 4-2-0 on the G, then D, then A, and all of a sudden the A string snapped just above the treble pickup.

How did I manage this?

sometimes strings break. it happens. buy a new set, restring it, and get back to playing

Once I was changing my strings just one at a time as they broke... I ended up having a 2 1/2 year old G-string

Thinking on it, I'm not sure it even broke. I'm pretty sure I just realized one day that it was really old and replaced it. Invincible string FTW

thats what i want to know. somtimes a burr in the saddle or slot can cut them, another thing that i have found which was a relatively odd one was snapping in the tail piece of the bridge (on a TOM) where it was wound around the little ball end.

but in reality strings are not perfect and will always manage to break when its inconvient, but some times there is cause for premature failure. check your nut and saddle.

Also excessive alt. tunings can wear strings down fast, specifically open ones where you tune up like open A or E, I've had several d-strings break from that.

I was once practicing while talking on the phone with my girlfriend.
The second she mentioned Edward Cullen, my low D snapped.

I was using 11's as far as I can remember.

I've broken plenty (EB's) within hours of putting them on. Sometimes when stringing.

My heart bleeds.
It's an opinion. It's subjective. And I'm right, anyway.

Right after I Put a new set of 11's on, while I was trying () to fix my bridge, I forgot to unwind my high e string and it broke when I was adjusting the bridge. It happens. It really stinks when you don't have another pack of strings(like in my case). So I had to order some more strings and I'm still without a high e string. So my advice: always has two packs of strings just in case.

I use Ernie's. They last me months even when I play regularly - my hands don't sweat though, so the strings don't corrode at all.

You must not have seen very many strings.

Used Ernie Ball strings for years, hardly ever broke any.

TS. Strings break. It could be user error, or a faulty string. It just happens.

Actually, i'll vouch for EB's being some of the lower quality strings i've played. the tone dies exceptionally quick and they snap a bit too easy.

I agree. That's why I switched to D'Addarios. Very happy with the decision.

But essentially saying that Ernie Ball strings never last two weeks is ridiculous.

They're good strings...that doesn't mean you can't find better ones.

Aren't there only like a few string winding companies in the world? So if that's the case, then wouldn't D'Addario and Ernie Ball more than likely get their nickel wound, 10 gauge strings from the same company, and just package it differently?

I was told this by the guy that owns my local music store, and trust him completely, so I never really looked into it. But you guys seem adamant in the fact that there is a difference. Has anyone actually looked into it?
