This video is very eye opening about stuxnet,

since we are all in the digital age, you might as well watchi it if you have a few minutes, its very crazy how severe the results of a virus can be

Looks like an awesome movie. When will it be released in cinemas? Is it a prequel to the Terminator series?

Scary stuff. I thought viruses that just deleted your files were annoying, but viruses that can control nuclear power-plants...
Isn't it a pity?
Now, isn't it a shame?
How we break each other's hearts,
And cause each other pain...

I watched it. Really interesting, still can't believe they spent over $2,000,000 on it
It's not how big your pencil is; it's how you write your name.

Should i get a vaccination for it? I hope its not as bad a swine or bird flu

When you have the ability to make programs as complex as that, you don't need to pay for anything more than your internet connection.

brb downloading stuxnet, tinkering with it to download gay pr0nz and emailing it to daytripper's inbox.

Yeah, take that, Matt.
RIP Tom Searle.

Huh, it's kind of fascinating actually. Yes, it's also terrifying, but being able to shut down an essential and heavily monitored system like a nuclear power plant with a single code is incredible.

I lik e how it not only messes with the power plant but tells the system that everything is all right aswell.

That's ****ing crazy.

Honestly, stuff like this makes me consider careers in computers
"You have brains in your head,
You have feet in your shoes,
You can steer yourself,
any direction you choose,
You're on your own,
And you know what you know,
And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go."

OMG I had so many nerdgasms watching that video,maybe it's because I'm studying Computer Engineering with a minor in Computer science but OMG isn't that shit awesome?!

and it all comes down to a simple if statement

if (centirfugedetected==1)
{
'virus code runs';
}

else
{
//hello world
}

Wow. Up until the last 30 seconds or so, I was all like...that's pretty mad. It could cause some shit, but we'd just watch it happen.
Then I shat.

Oh and the voiceover guy sounds like Tim Minchin

It reminded me of Metal Gear Solid. The idea of the democratization of a powerful weapon (in game it was nukes, now it's viruses) was one of the messages in the game. But having a powerful virus available to anyone is pretty damn scary.

The fact that the graphics in that video were so good, it was narrated by an Australian guy, and they used meaningless terms like "20 times more complex than any previous virus" makes me not worried at all. Seriously, how do you measure units of complexity?
#31
The more important question, why the **** is a nuclear power plant's control computer connected to the internet?

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

The virus doesn't necessarily have to come from the internet, it just has to end up on the network of computers running/monitoring the plant. And after watching an explanation on it, there's a variety of ways this could happen.

The virus is pure genius, really.

Also, biological entities have levels of complexity as well, so you could approach this from a few directions.
My God, it's full of stars!

I was sceptical of the whole deal until I read that it spreads through USB drives and pretty much infects everything but doesn't do anything until it finds the right computer.

That shit is quite scary.

Someone should send it to Anonymous or LulzSec and watch shit go down.

You keep seeing songs like KoC, SMBH, and Hysteria showing up on games, but I want Micro Cuts on either Rock Band or Sing Star. I want to see numerous masses of kids staring at the tv wondering what the hell they're supposed to do.
