Im looking at buying the 6505 head in the next few days but in Australia this is a rather expensive venture when you include the matched cab. So im looking at other cabs that will give me a similar output but more a much cheaper price.

Currently ive been looking at the:
BLACKSTAR HTV 412 - Angled 320 Watt 4x12

I havent had a chance to test out that cab but its seeming like my best option at the moment seeming most cheaper 300watt cabs are absolute crap. So if anyone knows how this combo would sound or can suggest a better one that would be great!

Yeah any quality 212.

a 6505 is only 120 watts and having a 300 watt capable cab wont make it louder.

inb4 412 is louder than 212 argument.

He might be wanting to avoid speaker breakup........

@TS If output is such a concern, order a Whitebox/Acataar 212 with Eminence Tonkerlites.
Each Tonkerlite is 125W, and is voiced like a V30 with less treble.

6505 has 16 ohms output, i thought that therefore required a 16 ohm cab to avoid blowing one of them? ( i do also realize it is switchable so i can turn it down to a less powerful cab )

I ran mine into a 212 at 16 ohms

212 cabs are great and they can run at 16, just depends on the cab, you dont need a 412, my old orange 212 sounded huge.

GS if he gets it loud enough for speaker break up he is kinda of negating the point of a 120 watt metal amp. Not to mention after specs and shipping, a whitebox would come close to the cost of him 6505 as he lives in Aus.

Don't get the matching cab. The cab itself is decent but the speakers are pretty crappy especially when you can get Orange or Mesa 4x12's for $1200

Listen to him the cab is diecent in build, but the scheffield speakers are crap. Take your head and go shoping for a cab if you can. If a store wants you to spend $$$ for a cab they wont have a problem with you using that head to test the cab you want to buy. The speakers in the Blackstar aren't that good eather. You probably want a cab with G12T75's in it, maybe a Marshall 1960. Sorry I have no Idea what they cost in OZ, but they work pretty well with the 5150 my buddy has. What are some of the lesser expensive brands in OZ? It'll help us alot to make a sugestion.

I find G12T75's to sound awful with the 6505. I would go with a V30 or K100 loaded cab, although i've heard a cab loaded with K100's and Greenbacks in an X pattern is brutal.

thanks guys took a look at the 1960a online, seems to be the standard most people use with it.... im gonna go check it out with that doesn't look like its going to cost more then $1000 for it either so it could be a safe bet
