I'm 16 and I'm really stressed out. I'm seriouslly thinking about dropping out of school or killing myself.

I have a 65 in Italian 2, and I'm supposed to take italian 3 next year and I'm just barley getting by in 2

I ****ed off in 8th grade math because I didn't care and that landed me in foundations algebra last year and this year I'm in algebra 1 part 2 (I'm a sophmore in a freshman class) and my test scores were low in math so threw threw me in this dumb math thing and you bassically sit in a room and do math on a computer. And in math my school is constantly doing state testing that do nothing but discourage me because I've never learned half of whats on the test because I'm still stuck in freshman math. Then next year everyone in my grade has to take a test to show what we've learned all of our years in highschool and it's a lot of geomery and everyones in geometry but me because i can't take it until i pass algebra 1.

My history teacher told me I didn't have to write a jurry paper on a trial we did, then he changed his mind when he was doing his gradebooks and gave me a 0 on a 100 point assignment which is why i now have a 32 in that class so he told me to write a paper on the issue of the trial and he will give me my points back, but he's the type of guy that would pull something like "oh I forgot to add your missing work in before grades closed....it's not my problem anymore"

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!

I just lost my credit in English this year because my state has stupid requirement things that bassically say you can't just pass a class with good grades anymore, you have to show you've learned things in these stupid assignments they make you do and you have to have so many per class to pass and you need a certain number to graduate. I failed twice on this presentation requirement oh and I forgot to say even if you pass all of the requirements except 1 then you don't pass the class. So now I lost my english credit because I failed one special assignment even though I've had A's and B's all year in that class and did good on every assignment except one. now i have to stay after school in this credit recovery class to show "growth" that I'm improving and getting better on the assignment.

So now I only have half a week to somehow fix all of these problems or I might not graduate highschool because of this screwed up system the schools have here now.

And my only role model I've ever had in my life is graduating today and i'll probably never see him again because he joined the army and is going to afghanistan.

And all of this has been stressing me out to the point where I have to smoke weed multiple times a day or I start freaking out about things and getting wicked stressed and i've been blowing all of my cash on it.

So this is why I'm seriously thinking about dropping out of highschool. But I heard that things are different than they were ten years ago and if you're a highschool drop out then nobody will hire you. I just don't know what to do should I drop out of highschool or not? I've been getting kind of sad and have just been thinking about killing myself or something because it seems like I'm just really doomed here.

Didn't read OP, but whatever's going on in your life, it is not worth dropping out of killing yourself. Seriously. Unless you have something else going for you that's set in stone, do not drop out.

I'm your age, and though we're not exactly old or experienced, we've been around long enough to be able to look back on things that happened where we thought that shit had gotten so bad there was no way out. And yet we're both still hanging around, right? So whatever's happening now, I swear it will be over soon, and you'll laugh at how you were actually contemplating such stupid things over such petty problems. If you decide to drop out you'll be looking back and realizing what a stupid mistake you've made. I've had quite a few close family members and friends do similar things and they'd give anything to go back and change that. Don't make that mistake.

Good luck with whatever's going on though

Don't do it. Man up and take control. Even if you end up held back a year, it's not the end of the world.

Plus if you think life sucks now, think of how hard it's gonna suck when you can't get a job, which leads to no income, no relationships, no fun.

Nah, man, don't do it. Ending your life or dropping out isn't the way to go. Maybe you should get a few tutors, man. I know it's embarrassing, but it'll be a lot worse than embarrassment if you have a tough time getting a job.

Succeed in high school! I know you can do it, TS! I believe in you. It's gonna be hard work, but I think you can do it.

Dude don't do either of them. Everyone has problems in school, just try to get all your shit done and you'll be fine.

If you want to be a gas junkie or sandwich artist, drop out of school.

If you want to do anything else with your life, don't.

Actually I think a sandwich artist needs some math skills.....

Don't drop out of school.

Think about it this way - you keep pushing on through high school until you graduate (regardless if you do it one year later of whatever) and then nobody forces you to take classes you don't like. But you need to accept things that happen to you and find joy and comfort in something else other than drugs. And whatever you do, don't ever commit suicide, there's never a good enough reason.

dropping out of school i dont recomend it but if you want to do it and by all means do it but seriously think about it
dont just do it becasue its difficult just keep trying

now killing yourself thtas just stupid your not only hurting yourself but those around you that care about you and htose people thta care about you can probably help you out in your school
#19
You're actually citing difficult schoolwork as a reason for wanting to kill yourself: do you have no grasp of the enormity of death? No respect for life?

Well, I suppose that can be expected of someone whose "role model" is currently in Afghanistan.

Whatever you do, do NOT drop out of high school. Unless you want to beg for a job at McDonalds for the rest of your life.
#23
At least try for a GED (If you're in the US), you can skip some high school with that, while still being able to get into most entry level jobs. While you're at it, look into the military, if your role model is in it why shouldn't you try, it may lead you on a better path in life.

We've all thought of doing it, thank god most of us woke up. You won't regret it in the future dude, seriously, there is no bigger truth.

TS,

For one, do not kill yourself. It doesn't sound like your too serious about it, but do not even think about it as an option. Killing yourself because of school? It's not the end of the world. Schools can be screwed up but you have to make the best of it.

Have you talking to anyone about this? A school counselor? A parent? A trusted friend or adult? There is help. Do all that you can to graduate high school. That is the bare minimum you have to do to get decent jobs. Even if you hate school, just make sure you graduate. Take the classes you need to. Who care if you are held back, it is a lot better than not having a diploma. Discuss options with people. Maybe a different school, or home schooling can be looked at? I don't know your situation TS, but I know there are options.

Always remember that you are much better off than most people in the world. School problems are nothing compared to what other people have to deal with everyday. Living in a first world country (I assume) with public education (although pretty screwed up) with relative safety compared to a lot of the world is something to appreciate.

TS get help. Look for it and you will find it. That is the best thing you can do at this point. You've already started anyways, going to an Internet forum is a start and shows that you are seeking help from others. Now I ask you to seek help from people in your life that you trust.

Good luck, TS.

First of all, don't do anything silly like killing yourself. Secondly, it sounds like one of the world's absolutely brilliant bureaucratically driven education systems has screwed you over and I feel bad dude - really. The thing is, you have to play the game to get around and that means high school diploma > degree > job. It's sad but true, so stop smoking weed, talk to your parents and settle down - you can sort this out if your decided and talk to the right people who can help you.

Yeah, don't be stupid. Things are drastically different than they were 10 or 20 years ago, when you could just sleep on your mates sofa and wake up a rock star the next day.
I'm 20 now and considering applying to University next year, even with the costs being tripled, because I have nothing else going for me. When you're 16 everyone gives you advice and career paths and counselling and stuff. When you leave school and leave everything behind and become an adult, everyone just looks down on you and ignores you, or tells you to join the army cuz you have nothing left to live for. Sort your shit out now, and you won't regret it massively in the future.

Anyway man, don't drop out. The future you have in front of you is so dependent upon your high school education. And your life is worth too much, don't take it.

Aside from the thing with your history teacher, nothing you've described thus far is screwed up. You appear to have messed up and now want to dodge responsibility. Actions have consequences. Welcome to reality.

And all of this has been stressing me out to the point where I have to smoke weed multiple times a day or I start freaking out about things and getting wicked stressed and i've been blowing all of my cash on it.

You have to smoke weed? No. You choose to smoke weed instead of taking responsibility for your actions. If you are so desperate, go get help. You can't expect everyone else to bend over backwards to fix your problems.

I've been getting kind of sad

And your abuse of a depressant is most likely making it worse.

have just been thinking about killing myself or something because it seems like I'm just really doomed here.

The desire to commit suicide is typical among those who feel hopeless. You essentially have two choices:
1) Buck up, stop doing drugs, start listening to parents and authority figures, see a psychiatrist, and start actively fixing your problems.
2) Continue to ignore your problems with drug use, escalate the problems, get in over your head, fail at life, and then end up even worse than before.
#34
+1 on not smoking weed.

TS, having thoughts like yours plus weed (or any kind of drug for that matter) is not a good thing.

I dicked around seventh-half of tenth grade, barely passed all my classes with C's or B's (never failed, so I didn't have it as bad as you), but I started putting a lot of effort into school after that and ended high school with a 3.49 gpa. It doesn't sound like your teachers are trying to help you or really care if you pass or not; idk if larger schools are like that since I went to a smaller one, but all the teachers were constantly nagging you about your work and tried to help you out as much as they could. I don't know if this is obvious and crossed your mind already or if you already did but ask your teachers for help outside of school, get tutoring, or something.

I've been pretty down for a while as well, 21 and never had a job, I've applied everywhere within fifteen miles multiple times and never been hired. I don't see much point in living lately, but I'm waiting it out hoping that things will get better. Good luck with your school.

Get some help.

Nearly all the advice above should be ignored, since not a soul here is familiar enough with you and your very personal situation to offer any credible thoughts. (And the 'man up' morons need to be pummeled with roadkill...)

My $.02

Quitting school isn't the end of the world, nor will it necessarily ruin the balance of your existence.

Killing yourself is and will.

I repeat, seek some help. We all need it sometimes.

Now, I have about as much experience with dropping out of school, as much as North Pole expeditions. But, even though things seem hard and ****s you all over, don't give the **** up! The second you drop out, you'll just end up with more shit. Piles of shit too. Go graduate, get a job, have a great life.

Hope it helps, somehow.

Let's not bring political opinion into this.

OT: Yeah, killing yourself is a stupid idea. As is dropping out. Sacrifice your social life a bit perhaps, just put your head down, work, get a tutor as someone else suggested. I got a maths tutor in my Freshman year of High School, it worked, it just needed things being explained in a different way.

You can do it!

I'm going to be harsh here, but you'll thank me for it in the long run:

Seriously Man the **** up. Just because you're struggling in school, that's no reason to be a drop out and kill yourself. If you had a legitimate issue maybe I'd be a bit more sympathetic, but to me this just looks like:

"I'm going to say I'm going to kill myself just to get attention, bawww!"

Seriously if you think life is tough now just wait till your an unqualified for anything waster working in mcdonalds (if that) living in REAL life, as I expect you still live with your parents, real life is ****ing stressful.

Also, on the "I've heard no one will hire you if you're a highschool drop out", well of course they wont, there's no "I've heard" about it, it's a pretty obvious conclusion any one can come to. If you're unqualified nobody wants you because....you're unqualified.

It's called coursework and exams, and we all had to do them. It's not some bizzare thing only your state does.

Just because you've got good effort on your report card, that doesn't mean you're entitled to pass, you have to do exams and pass them to graduate A level (or whatever your equivalent of end of High School exams are). If you didn't realise this then well....I've no idea what to even say to that. You've failed 2 presentations and one assignment, to me that sounds like you've not done very well, which means you shouldn't pass. Why you're surprised at this beats the hell out of me, did you honestly think you'd pass even if you failed 3 requirements?

Unless you've got some actual issues, which you most likely haven't or you would've mentioned them, and none of that "My gf dumped me" crap either.

Have a look at your Original Post, then look in the mirror and see if you can honestly say that everything you said is unfair. Because none of it is. YOU did bad in your school work, acting as if it's unfair that you won't pass because YOU failed your exams is just ridiculous and incredibly stupid. All you're trying to do here is dodge reality and responsibility to yourself.

What you need is a dose of someone like Dr George White Bread, Aka Harry Enfield, Aka, a Reality check.
