i've been borrowing my little brother's berringer 1x12, it sounds like trash. i'm primarily a drummer so i don't feel like spending very much money on guitar/bass stuff, but it's gone from a want to a need.

if you can suggest a 1x10 that's got enough low-end volume to play above a drum set, i will definitely consider that. i'm leaning toward a 2x10 because i dislike running an amp at 10/10 master volume and i'm a fairly aggressive drummer.

there's no single style that the amp will be used for. i'm looking to add a DI box/preamp to my setup in the future so if you have any suggestions i'd appreciate it (i'm looking at a used sansamp bass DI).

For a good 2x10 combo under $400.00, you are probably going to have to look used. There are some good ones out there. If you are willing to go with a 1x15 combo instead, your options expand greatly.

You need a 15", 2x10s will only augment a 15" when competing against drums

A 2x10 will not compete with drums, get a 15 and add a 2x10 later.
