It's quite good actually. If you keep the gain down you can blow down walls with clean sound.

Not if you have the gain turned right down. You just have to have it low enough that the diodes never clip. Or you can just rip the diodes out. The diodes on channel one (the LED's) can just be ripped out anyway. The ones on the lead channel require a bit more surgery but the ones in channel 1 are easy peasy.
I've removed the ones on channel 2 but I didn't bother on channel 1 because it's easy to operate below their switching point.
