I call myself a man, probably since i was around 19.

But i can't really put my finger on a specific day where i went from boy to man, i lost my virginity at 17 - but i still thought of myself as a kid at that time. Whereas now, i am man.

How about you?

(This can apply to girls/women aswel )

I love you =] I can't say I was very fond of you when we first started talking because you trolled the hell out of my threads, but after talking to you here I've grown very attached to you.

Yeah, write to my fanclub about it, honey.

Somewhere between 10-12 when my dad broke his back, found out my best friend was a pedo (and what that meant since I was so naive at the time) and started working my first paying job.

I think I only started referring to myself as a woman rather than a girl over the last year. Before then I was pretty set on clinging onto my youth with full force.
I'm 23.. very nearly 24.

EDIT: actually, probably around the time my boyfriend turned 27. I can't be a girl whose going out with a man. That's just weird. Maybe I'll go back to girl if we break up

A man? It's not in my interests to become something so vulgar and primitive.

I'm 22 going on 23 and I still don't know if I'm a "man". I'm still a child at heart, though that child is slowly being smothered and hidden away.
I know I have certainly matured a LOT in the last year or so though. Up until the start of 2010 I wasn't really going anywhere, wasn't making anything of myself - I was working, but really nothing had changed in years for me as a person.
From 2010 I started to have to depend on myself a lot more, suck up my emotions and mature up. I started working extra hard, generating as much savings as I could, and then I got on a plane and went overseas for months. Still gone. I've spent 7.5 months floating around North America, and just spent the last 5 months backpacking through Europe. Back in Canada for another month before going back home, after having been away from my home, friends and family for nearly 10 months.
It's been a huge experience which I guess is probably the closest I can say to having become a man. I've matured substantially, I've learnt to depend on myself and get around, learnt to manage my money and possessions, and I've learnt (or I hope so, anyway), not to be so concerned with the pettiness and stupidity that comes with so many friendships and relationships.
That's not to say I disagree with having friends and relationships, it just means I have no interest in the petty arguments, fights and bickering that come with them and thus will not let it bother me as much as it did 2 years ago.

I'm hoping when I get back home people will say that I've matured, because I really feel as though I have.

The best part is where you think you think like a man, but in 5 years you look back and think "Boy, I knew nothing back then! I'm glad I'm mature and grown up now."
And then 5 years after that you think "Boy, I knew nothing back then! I'm glad I'm mature and grown up now."
Then 5 years after that you think "Boy, I knew nothing back then! I'm glad I'm mature and grown up now."

I matured a lot since I graduated from lower secondary, three years ago.
I don't know if I actually can consider myself a man though, but heck, I'll be moving far away from home this fall, and then I'm off to Britain somewhere to study. I think I can live quite well by myself.

I'm not allowed to get a license. Any number of cars you drive is the difference between number of cars you're driven and number of cars I've driven.

I'm 19 and I don't think I'm a "man" yet. Hell, I don't even have my driver's license yet ): I'm really skinny and could probably pass for a tall 14 or 15 year old kid. Mom and dad still pay the bills and feed me most of the time lol. I'm basically a kid at heart. At least I don't work at a video store or fast food place (I've got an office job)

What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets! But enough talk...have at you!

Sorry, had to quote that.

I'm 22 and I certainly still don't consider myself a man. I've grown up a lot ever since I moved out, but I'm still learning, trying to find my place and life and figure out who it is I really am.

I don't think you can call yourself a man until you know who you are.

Too many people thinking getting laid means they're a man. I lost my virginity over 5 years ago, it didn't do anything to me besides give an inflated ego.
I still consider myself young with a lot to learn. Sure, I feel like I've matured a helluva lot over the last year and learnt to depend on myself a fair bit, but in a couple of years I'll look back at me now and still see a kid. Even then I'll feel like I've matured a lot more - but another couple of years and I'll see myself then as a kid still.

You pretty much constantly mature and grow wiser in your years. Eventually you'll "become a man", but most likely you're not there yet. Or you won't think so in a few years.

The question should probably be "What exactly IS a man?" instead. The more I think about it, the less I can actually pinpoint what exactly it means.

Does being a man mean taking responsibility for others?
Is it being successful?
Is it finding inner peace?
Is it reaching a certain age?
Is it having a certain amount of inner strength?
Is it reaching a power level of over 9000?
Is it ceasing to make DBZ jokes? (oh god I hope not)
