I'm calling this a NGD sorta.

Because I've technically "owned" this guitar for a very long time almost 20 years.
I got it from a pawn shop in late 92 or early 93. If I recall correctly I paid $250 for it.

I owed my friend some money and traded this guitar to pay the debt...

Much to my surprise I got a call last week about "picking up my stupid guitar" or it was going to end up in a dumpster.

The case was covered with dust after sitting in the basement forgotten all these years.
A new set of strings and tweaking the setup and plays perfectly.

I decided to do some research to try and date it. This is what I discovered.

The X82 Nova was part of failed attempt by Guild to get a chunk of the early 80s
hard rock and metal market. It was also pretty much a commercial failure. Only 460 of these were ever made.

Here are the specs
Made in America

Mahogany body set in neck

Color:
Candy Apply red

Neck:
Scale 24 3/4
Fingerboard ebony
Dot inlay
24 jumbo frets

Pickups:

Neck original X-7
Bridge A Duncan of some sort? I've forgotten what it is
Controls:
Push pull coil tap and volume for each pickup master tone

Bridge:
Tune-o-matic

So here it is my recovered Guild X82 Nova.

How much you want for it....
I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.

Actually that's an optical illusion. The neck profile is pretty much a standard thin U profile.

It measures 43mm at the nut 56mm at the last fret.

EDIT:

I just realized I didn't post the results of the serial hunt.

It was made in 1981 and is number 30 of 460

What you're seeing is where I sanded the paint off the neck and applied a lemon oil satin finish.

I did this before I knew how rare it was. I though it was just some beater from the pawn shop...
