I wrote this in the space of about half an hour after coming home from my uncles but I can't get a first verse!! It's driving me crazy so I thought that you, the lovely users of the Ultimate-Guitar Forum might be able to help me?

Human

My words, my mistakes,
My heart and my soul,
But in this game of life…

You can’t run if you’ve nowhere to run to,
You can’t survive if you’ve nowhere to go,
You can’t live if you’ve no one to love you,
But the truth is what makes us human,
And our mistakes show we’re alive,

But I’m only human,
Always fighting what I’m feeling,
To scared of what I’m thinking,
Hurt instead of healing,

My words, my mistakes,
My heart and my soul,
But in this game of life…

You can’t run if you’ve nowhere to run to,
You can’t survive if you’ve nowhere to go,
You can’t live if you’ve no one to love you,
But the truth is what makes us human,
And our mistakes show we’re alive,

Pay respects to beauty and friendship,
Send my love to good,
Give my regards to the sun and moon,
They always did the best they could,
Goodbye to devotion,
You’ve taught me everything I know,
Wave goodbye and wish me well,
But you’ve got to let me go,

You can’t run if you’ve nowhere to run to,
You can’t survive if you’ve nowhere to go,
You can’t live if you’ve no one to love you,
But the truth is what makes us human,
And our mistakes show we’re alive,

You can’t run if you’ve nowhere to run to,
You can’t survive if you’ve nowhere to go,
You can’t live if you’ve no one to love you,
But the truth is what makes us human,
And our mistakes show we’re alive,

I would be wary using the "game of life" phrase. Unfortunately, it's an overused concept. However, I think you are on the right track here. As I'm reading, I'm seeing this less like a set of lyrics, and more like a collection of brainstorming that is in the process of conceiving a really good song.
Sometimes a good exercise is just to write and write and ramble on until you have solid tidbits that can be put together in a song.
You've got a good concept here. This line is great:
Pay respects to beauty and friendship,
Send my love to good,
Give my regards to the sun and moon,
They always did the best they could,
Goodbye to devotion,
You’ve taught me everything I know,
Wave goodbye and wish me well,
But you’ve got to let me go
The rest is a bit forgettable. Run with what you've got, and keep working on it!

I agree with leilalauren, however do you not think that particular quote sounds a bit too much like 'Human' by The Killers??
Naming the song human didn't exactly help?
