I searchbar'd nothing relevant showed up so...

I had a dream last night like the majority of people. But for the first time in my life I heard *music* in the dream, (new lamb of god in the middle of class best way I could describe the music lol) and the experience was surprising but welcome and made me feel confused but complacent

Does anyone regularly have music in the background in your dreams? (Like actual music in the actual dream and not something playing in your ears while you sleep) I s this a normal occurrence for people?

One time I had a dream where I was listening to Marquee Moon by Television. Like, that was the whole dream, just the album playing.

Then another time I was listening to "Once in a Lifetime" by Talking Heads over & over on my iPod while walking around somewhere.

One time I dreamt Rush was in the background of my dream, and then I woke up and there was a Rush live concert playing on my tele.

Its happened to me. Freaking creepy when you start to hear loud thrash out of nowhere. Also, one time i remember being in my dream singing this one song about killing witches, while killing witches.

I ALWAYS hear "original" music in my dreams...

No matter what I do, I CAN'T REMEMBER THEM

On the other hand, I have heard existing songs in my dreams that I remembered once I woke up.

I remember once I was playing a live gig and physically couldn't play a single song but the crowd were cheering me. However, out of shame I ate my guitar.

Sometimes I dream of waking up to the soft voice of Ellen Page quitely humming Radiohead songs. She's lying by my side in a white bath robe letting the light from the open window pour in on her, engulfing her in the sun's rays and making her smile shine. Her hair seems to fall in a seemingly effortless way on each side of head, treated the pillow to that sweet scent, and my ears to a sweet tune.

So yeah, I guess I hear music in my dreams

My friend said he once had a nightmare that solely consisted of the melodic acoustic intro of Lack of Comprehension by Death on repeat playing while he was being chased by a ninja and stuck to the spot because he couldn't run in the dream

I had a dream where I composed the greatest symphonic metal song I've ever heard. Now I can't remember a note of it.

Also on a side note, is anybody else not able to punch things in dreams?

I've had entire symphonies and orchestras in my dreams, even Synesthesia in dreams, rather annoyingly i don't have synesthesia in real life -.-

I'm sometimes kept awake by a violin i 'hear' playing when there isn't one. Actually, on my MP3 page on my profile, the 'Winter Shadows' song, the cello sound from GP5 is actually a fragment of one of those violins.

I sometimes have dreams where I am just sitting on my computer listening to music. Usually it's something I had been listening to prior to going to sleep.

I can't at all. My fist just swerves away from the target, it's so strange.

I once dreamed a few years ago that i was in the front row at a Death concert and they played an alternative intro to Lack of Comprehension, i still have a picture of it in my head but i cant remember exactly what it sounded like unfortunately.

Sometimes, original and existing, but I have noticed how the song on my alarm sounds completely different just before I wake up, to what it ACTUALLY is

had one a few weeks ago that blew my mind

i was playing an unrecognizable guitar and amp, just messing around on the neck. Then i hit this single pedal that was running to my amp and it made the guitar sound freaking amazing, i continued for a bit then woke up.

i was blown away by the tone of the distortion and i just lay there thinking "my god......thats the tone i have been looking for all my life." and i continued to lay there for a bit remembering what it sounded like.

ill never forget that sweet ass tone, i have been searching since then to find a guitar/amp that can produce that tone again cause if i find it in reality then that will be the tone i stick with.

kinda freaked me out for a bit just realizing that all the time ive been trying to find a good sound for myself i have not got it, however, my subconscious just let me know what i have been looking for.

very cool i think

Yeah, on a semi-regular basis actually. I've come up with the most incredible guitar solos in my dreams, and composed some pretty crazy music in my dreams, only to forget it all when I'm awake enough to write it down.

I once had a dream I saw dave mustaine and a few other guys outside a building, sitting on a bench. Then there were soldiers around me, so I kicked one, then stabbed the other with a long, thin blade, driving it all the way into his neck. Blood everywhere. It was fantastic.

A few years back, I had a dream in total black and white with Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton rowing a boat down a stream, there was a tune playing in the background and up until JUST NOW I'd been thinking it was original.

i usually fall asleep to my ipod. one time i was dreaming i was in class and during the dream Shinedown kept playing in the background (forgot what song it was), then about a week ago i fell asleep listening to Four Year Strong and the whole dream revolved around Flannel Is The Color Of My Attitude. Last night, however, my dream had "original" music in it and when i woke up i still remembered it and when that happens i record myself singing it so i can figure out how to play it later. but this time i was like "whatever, its 3 am, i'm tired, i don't feel like gettin up, i'll remember in the morning." i ended up forgetting

This definately.

A lot of lyrics for songs i've written have come from dreams. Putting a notepad next to your bed to jot things down as you wake up is a good idea.

I had a dream where I was a kid in the 1980s (for some reason) and, quite amazingly The Beatles had reformed (for some reason; this is predating the reunion era of the 2000s), John Lennon having not been assassinated. And they were playing new, original music, and it was cathartic; but when I woke up I couldn't remember how any of it went.
#34
Sometimes when I'm very tired and halfway asleep, I hear symphonies playing in my head. It's almost like lucid dreaming because I'm directing where the music goes. Hasn't happened recently though, and it's always just a symphonic orchestra, never guitar/band based.
