dude. you gotta go play things. "better" is a matter of opinion. what sounds good to me might sound terrible to you. honestly, one of the best metal sounds i ever got was by using a Fender 65 reissue twin reverb, metal muff, and my LTD ec 1000. to me, it blew away most of the big name metal amps (including mesa, engl, and peavey). the stars lined up or something with that combination.

anyway, just go play every amp you can. and keep in mind that for metal, low wattage is not really a necessity. its all preamp gain, not power amp (unless you're playing AC/DC and Sabbath, and even then its easy to nail their sounds). and there's always pedals to boost.

Krank Rev Jr Pro.

Straight up, nothing handles metal like it.

This^^

Here is my 2¢ I've played a JCA20 half stack and loved how it sounds.

EDIT:
I'm pretty sure the factory hot rod JCA22H must be even better?

I'm a little torn however.I got a chance to plug into a friend's Carvin V3m killer tone and super versatile.

Right now, there are six and a half billion people on earth who don't care what kind of tubes you have in your amplifier

EL84 = more of a british sounding power tube.
6L6 = more american sounding power tube.

The Pico Valve can accept different power tubes. Don't know the specifics but I'm sure you can put in at least 6L6s and EL34s.

Depending on the type of tone you want I'd throw in another for the Krank, and maybe wait for the JCA22H. I have the 50 watt and think it works great for metal, especially with a boost and new tubes made a huge difference. I'm fairly sure the 22H is a smaller version of the 50... it's at least very similar.

I was kind of confused by the mention of the V3M... and I just happened to see that they're making a micro version of it. That would also be a good choice. $700 so it's on the higher end, but for 3 channels and parametric EQ for each one, it's got a couple more features... and switchable wattage 50/22/7 you're basically covered if you ever need to play in a band setting. I might have to get one of those now... just as I thought I was content with my gear.

Definitely look into the V3M; the Carvin V3 is a very underrated amp and the V3M is, from what I know, the same thing but in a smaller and lower-wattage package.

okaay, ive checked out all of these amps and the v3m is too high for my budget haha
i just need something simple, i dont need crazy eq and stuff haha

"nothing too crazy" means a lot of things to a lot of people.

I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, then it hit me.

My idea of "nothing too crazy" is a Two-Rock Gain Master 22. Maybe you should consider that.
