Yeah I hate people stereotyping pop-punk like 'dis shit is liek only 3 chords listen to metul it has solos man'. I mean, try to make music that a crowd sings along like that, with passion

That gave me the chills. If I'm able to achieve that at any point during my life, I will feel accomplished.

I write whatever I feel like writing, but it usually turns out pop punk. I hate how downplayed it gets because of radio pop punk, considering some pop punk writers are incredibly musically intelligent... Plenty of pop punk has really cool song structuring.

I would disagree that pop punk is for the musically inclined. I mean, I love it, but most song structures are pretty basic in the genre.

Then you're missing out on some great bands haha. Or you just don't notice it.

Obviously not all pop punk songs are creatively structured, but I could rattle off a list of bands who know how to structure pop punk songs really awesomely.

Most 'Lemuria', 'Title Fight' songs don't follow the stapled structure.

Two bands isn't a list, though. And Title Fight's more recent album is much more simply structured.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but for example, none of the bands in your (DiveRightIn63) sig have unique song structures. I love some of them, like MCS, Brand New, PBC and TWY...but only Brand New really deviates much from structures.

EDIT: Aside from TF and Lemuria, there are definitely some bands with interesting structures - Good Luck, Ovens, B&C come to mind - but not enough to say that the genre is in any way "diverse" in terms of song structure. Most are very simple verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus. Or a similar deviation.

Bayside, I am the Avalanche, Title Fight, Polar bear club, TSSF (eg Daughters), Fall Out Boy (surprisingly), Say Anything.

Not saying that pop punk is by any means one of the most intellectually designed genres, but there are some super clever songwriters in pop punk who get overlooked for playing pop punk

I wouldn't call Lemuria or Good Luck pop punk.

And lyrically sure, but most pop punk is pretty standard.

Funnest live band I've seen in a while. massive sing-a-longs. It's crazy how big they've gotten recently, excited to see them conquer the pop punk world

My favorite song is Brevity. It's 49 seconds long

Under Soil and Dirt is a near perfect album. It's up there with The Upsides for me.

Kinda' pissed I missed them with Transit a week ago or something because USAD is pretty sickkk!

Saw these guys with Transit the other day, so freaking good. Gutted that they didn't play Closure though.

Me neither, definitely not as good as Under Soil and Dirt. Isn't even as good as the Maker Split either.

I like it, sounds like them, I never expect this band to reinvent the wheel.

New album has leaked.

Everyone says it's better than Under Soil and Dirt.

It's not. His vocals are weird and he sounds like a robot.

I'm liking it so far, Small Talk is my favourite at the minute.

^ Seriously. I'm four or five songs in at this point, and it's just bland. Small Talk was alright though.

Empty Space and The Glass are the only tracks that stand out to me. It's not bad or anything, just nothing new. I'll probably spin it when I'm not trying to think and do mindless work.

Glad someone else thinks that. I wasn't sure if it was just biased since I don't like them already.

Never understood this perspective always saw the lyrics as a hatred of cheating rather than a hatred of women.

Degrading women is degrading women. Not every song is about cheating.

This band sucks anyways, it's just contrived pop punk with no real thought put in. Catch them with all the other hyped shit bands next Warped Tour.

I'm seeing them tonight but only because Sweet Weapons is playing, a grill beforehand, and I'm running door.
