hey there !

i am currently playing bass with my fingers
but i want to switch to pick playing because of the sound it gives
all goes well but i have one problem
when i hit an open string and then change to another string the other one still rings
is there any special technique for that sort of stuff ?

You can mute it with your fretting hand.

i did try that but that messes up my fretting

You could try muting the strings with your palm. Or use other fretting fingers.

Okay guys, I have a confession to make. Not really a confession since it's something that's been bugging me for awhile but I've always been in denial about it.

**** you gilly, it's not what you think

Just practise it slowly and figure out a way you can pick it so it doesn't "mess up" your fretting.
[Insert something clever here]

This, don't make excuses or try and find workarounds or "easy tricks". Just practice foo'.

I always get shit for playing with a pick but it's harder to keep everything in check when playing with a pick, with fingers nothing rings out as much

Hahaha, any paticular reason why the bassist needs to be female or are you just noncing?
You know, school girl and all that, 14-17?
Man, just get out your School of Rock DVD out and crack one off, don't go ruining young girls virtues!

I always come into these threads wanting to help, but someone always beats me too it....

Oh well.

Mute the open string with either your fretting hand or the side of your picking hand.
Understand nothing, in order to learn everything.

I can write a coherent tune ... But 3/4? I play rock, not polka.
