I've got my fully supported chest voice working well enough for me. I can slowly push my range without much negative after effects on my voice, and it's comfortable. That being said, whenever I try to get a more breathy and soft upper register (anywhere from Dallas Green from City and Colour to Adam Young from Owl City) I end up starting to go hoarse after 15-20 minutes. My main issue is that to hit my higher range, I'm always projecting in chest voice, which has it's applications, but isn't completely versatile.

Anybody been through this or have some tips?
