Ive been trying to find something on the forums about my question but I couldn't. I want to play some of the older kirk hammet solos but Im confused when practicing with a metronome, do I practice the solo by playing every note on a beat at around 70 bpm, or do i actually play the solo at that pace?
play at that pace, if the original was at 140 bpm and you started at 70 bpm you play the notes at half the speed of the original
play at the pace... if you can that is

if cant - metronome

dont forget to play all notes like they are supposed to (16th are twice as fast as 8th and so on) not just one mess of static n-th notes, follow dynamics (not that there's many in kirks solos), but in slow motion
