Hey there, I recently bought my Vox VT40+(amazing amp), but I'm not really hear to brag or talk about that. I was wondering what are the main differences between solid-states and tube amps?

In the end it's preference. Some bands even buy tube amps and have their distortion channels modded to sound more solid state. Dimebag played solid st ate till a few years before he died. I do honestly believe a solid state distortion is great for metal, but a tube clean is better for blues, jazz and rock. Tube amps are usually warmer, which is a preference of some(not me).

Everyone is going to pump tube amps down your throat, but go in with an open mind.
