So I got myself a Pod. I have had my 6505 212 combo up for sale for probably 4 maybe 5 months at $700 and it didn't seem to get too much interest. I one day decided I should sell all my tube amps and pedals and get a DSP unit. I was thinking Axe-FX, but I'd have to sell all my stuff + get cash on top of that to afford one of those puppies. So I took a look around and found out that the amp simulation on the new Pod HD's was not far behind the axe fx, on par with the axe fx or better than the axe fx depending on your opinion. I did some research and it seemed it would fit me nicely so i put up an ad with my Ultra head, Mesa cab, 6505 combo and all my pedals. I remember the guy I bought the 6505 from originally said he was getting one of these pod hd's to replace the 6505 because he just played at bedroom levels. I decided I'd throw him an email and ask him what his thoughts on it were after a few months having it and what he ran it through. Long story short, he wanted to trade the 6505 for his Pod HD and Rokit 8's. Which worked out great for me because it's exactly what I was wanting anyway.

On to the pics of my new studio!

Something is missing from this thread though..... What is it?

Nice. I've been wanting some monitors.

Like I said in the DSP thread, I've made a few presets if you want them. And I usually make at least one every couple of weeks.

Warning: These clips may contain bad/sloppy improvisation and/or shitty attempts at Meshuggah riffs.

http://soundcloud.com/levi79/sets/pod-hd500-clips

The Uberschall was the first patch I made, the Mesa was second, Fireball 3rd, Marshall 4th.
The tones basically go from worst to best respectively. Go figure how that works.
Nah, but I think these tones are decent for having the pedal for 1 day. Let me know what you guys think and what could be changed in your opinion. Promise I won't get offended or anything

Oh, and all of the amps had a tubescreamer in front of them and a noise gate as well on most.

Well, I don't really like the Uberschall clip, but that's because I can't stand the tone of the Uberschall model. I can't get a good tone out of it at all.

The Fireball one sounds pretty decent. I wish my right hand was strong enough to play metal rhythm like I used to be able to.

Just listening to your machine-gun riffs makes my wrist hurt.

On to the JCM800. I love this model a lot in the first place, so I can't really make an objective comment on it, but the only thing is it's a little harsh. I've noticed the default Tube Screamer settings are really harsh, IMHO. I turn the tone down to about 50%, and sometimes the treble, too. But it's a good model, so yeah.

Now, the Recto. Aww, more wrist-aching riffs. Starting off with "Bleed." The sound could use a little more "umph," if you know what I mean. I'm not sure what it needs frequency-wise. Hell, it could just be the fact that there's no bass playing, since that contributes to the low end considerably.

Not bad for a single day, though. Again, I hate the Uberschall model in general, so don't take that part personally. The Fireball and Dual Rec are much better for high-gain, IMHO.

I'll dial in some better tones and post them in the DSP thread tomorrow probably if anyone would be interested in hearing them. I might make a clip with some of the crazy filter effects on this unit.

well nice samples but idk.. didnt get me to go WOAH!!!????!?!?ASDL!@LOP!UFIOJLK

nice stuff really tho playing was a bit sloppy at times but it's not about playing right?

anyways keep the thing up man!

Yeah the tones still need some work, but for the first day having the unit I thought they were pretty good. And I know it was sloppy, but the day before I actually burnt the tips of my pointer and middle finger on my left hand on a soldering iron doing a wiring job, but my playing could use some cleaning up too for sure.

You did! I can play most of that song, but I don't think I could have done the rest of the song justice.

Yeah, I wasn't even expecting him to be into a trade, I guess I lucked out because I haven't gotten any replies to buy an amp since, so I would have been waiting a long while to get the pod most likely.
Thanks for reading the whole thing too, most people don't.

it's a cool rig you have now, very versatile. nothing wrong with a br00tz amp but this will do a lot more at usable volumes.

Nice trade man.

Slopp clips aside you might wanna lower the gain... I heard more fuzz in the tone than chuggy note definition. Nice clips too.

Nice!

Happy NDSPthingD man!

I loved the fireball clip (meshuggah and periphery <3 ), but all the high gain clips were on the harsher side...they could maybe use more low end. the fireball sounds lovely though.

The sheer number of people getting an HD make me consider getting one myself...I'll need a nice apartment friendly setup in a coupla months.

The gain is already at like 25% on most of the models
I'll upload some improved clips when I've got some time.

Nice score dude! Added you to the list btw.

How are the KRK monitors? They're on special over at Long & McQuade, and I do need some studio monitors. But I'm clueless when it comes to that type of gear.
