Cause it's a bad amp, sorry to say.

Most amps that come in a starter package kinda suck.

the amp really sucks, and im guessing you have some shitty strat with it. after over a year with this amp before getting a new one, i got some 'passable' tones. Basically dont add too much bass, keep the volume 5 or less, add treble, and make sure the guitar volume isnt maxed out. Thats the best clean tone you can get, otherwise i advise you to change this amp as soon as you can

An used Vypyr 15. I got one for $50 Wish I would have gotten the 30w model, but it's just a practice amp.

Ah ok thanks my budget was like £50 (don't know what that is in dollars)

That's about $72. That's not going to get you a good amp. The Roland cube 15x has some great cleans and it's about $90.
Guitars: Fender FSR Standard Strat, Squire Affinity Strat, Epiphone Nighthawk
Amps: Vox AC15C1, Roland Cube 15x, Peavey KB-1
Pedals: Digitech RP355, HD500, Joyo AC-Tone, EHX Soul Food

Peavey Vypyr is probably the best you can do in your price range. They can be scoope up on the Bay for 50 USD.
