I want to paint my guitar but I need to get all the electronics like the pick up selector and the volume and tone knobs. How would I go about doing this? I can solder the wires back on when I'm done I just need to know what ones I have to cut.

if your guitar has a removeable, wired pickguard (Think strat or Tele) then you wont have to cut anything...

You have, output and ground will have to be unsoldered (or cut)

Just make a detailed drawing or take a picture so if you do de-solder any wires you didn't need to, you know where they go.

But; generally if wires come out of an opening into the guitar cavity, they will need to be removed, like from the pups and the jack.
