I didn't see any rules against this kinda threat so what the hell: who else here thinks the concept of a KFC bucket on a guy's head is the dumbest thing you've ever seen in your life and possible the afterlife?

I'm over 30 so I suppose I could get accused of being out of touch but when I see this kind of retarded shit I can't help feeling we're all going to hell.

Sure he can play a million miles a minute, but usually just random scales and arpeggios, no actual music that I've heard.

No Flaming

you didn't look very hard. also, this is in the wrong forum. it belongs in Shred.

Buckethead is brilliant and one of the most versatile musicians alive. i'm guessing you've only ever listened to like two songs where he just shreds.

you're pretty narrowminded!

he has over 30 albums and can play any genre he wants to!
He is one of the most original guitarists ever!

you're making yourself look like an idiot with this thread!

edit: did you register just to post this ?

Some of the songs Buckethead has wrote are awesome. I really hate how people use the artist's look or personal life as a reflection on their music when it has absolutely no relevancy.

No one goes to Beethoven, "Oh He wore some silly looking stuff, Somehow that makes him musically less talented."

Same as Michael Jackson, all that bullcrap in the media. People didn't let that get in the way of the music.

It's a ****ing bucket man. It's on his Head. If it upsets you. Just try listening to the music instead.
On playing the Paul Gilbert signature at the guitar store extensively, my missus sighed:
"Put it down now, It's like you love that guitar more than me!"
In Which I replied.
"Well it has got two F-Holes!"

Its such a shame that you are more interested about his bucket, than his music, he is one of The most awesome, not Guitar player At all but a really touchable musicians today. You have To concentrate in more than meets The eyes
#13
I agree, I'm not a fan of the music he generally does because I'm not into the whole shredding random scales for five minutes at a time. But if you give a listen to the album Electric Tears you hear a different side of his playing, I usually listen to it when I'm tired or thinking about things.
#14
You could be the most amazing guy in the world, but no woman will be seen in public with you if you're wearing a KFC bucket on your head.

Same goes for guitar. He must be a pretty remarkable musician judging by the way people go on about him, but he's got a freakin bucket on his head. I just can't respect that.
#15
Guyyyys, main focus here is the "concept of a KFC bucket on a guy's head".
Obviously, totally ridiculous. I mean, come on. KFC bucket.
#17
The bucket helps him keep his real life from his professional life. James Hetfield walks down the street, and people swarm him - Brian Carroll does is and he's a regular guy, not a guitar god. And he keeps a good hold on his imagination, even at this age. Call it a gimmick if you want, but listening to Buckethead always reminds me of childhood and fun and imagination. He has fun with what he does instead of taking himself too seriously, and that just adds to his heaps of talent.

Usually when they are shredding they arent just randomly grabbing scales off google.

Buckethead is my fave player in the world. I never judge a band/artist on how they look. It's not like you are looking at them while you are listening to their songs (Unless you see them live and even then you can just shut your eyes!).

I'm just like the Jonas Brothers,

I'm no longer relevant and write mediocre music.

It's his imago. When one sees him..one will remember him. He'd be way less-known without the bucket.
#22
I don't like most of his music, but that man is a genius and deserves respect,

go pick on MTV for making every female singer sing in bikini....
#25
I'm sure it's been said by this point, but the only people who claim that Buckethead is a mindless, idiotic shredder are those who are woefully ignorant of the depth of his catalog.
Please excuse my godawful username. I was thirteen.

That's it?? Ok call me narrowminded but that clip is nothing but a bluesy ballad that I could play myself at home in my bedroom blindfolded. Sure it's not bad, but please. There must be a million guitarists across the world that could play that. There's really nothing original about it at all. Why even bother?

Funny you said that cause female signers ARE on MTV because they are in bikini, has nothing to do with anything you could consider music. Same goes for a clown in a KFC bucket. Sure Beyoncé is smoking hot in her bikini, but that doesn't stop me from watching her with the mute button on. What are you gonna call Lady Gaga a talented musician now?
#32
You're blindly hating on him, possibly because you are sick with all the hype. Which I don't get. If you don't like his playing style or his songs, that's totally fine. I myself cannot stand to listen to Steve Vai, yet so many people think he's the greatest ever. And that's fine. There's these wonderful things called opinions, which mean that everyone can think what they want to think when it comes to something so subjective as music.

As for the bucket, he started wearing it because he apparently had the worst stage fright, and by wearing the bucket and the mask, it wasn't Brian Carrol getting up to play, it was a different character. It also lets him dodge the celebrity life that can really damage a lot of people.

EDIT: Also, listen to these:

It’s fine to say something like "you know, I don't really like this, it doesn't appeal to me." or "I find this to be a gimmick and can't take it seriously."

But it's not fine to say [is something the] "dumbest crap or what??" or "the dumbest thing you've ever seen in your life" or "when I see this kind of retarded shit I can't help feeling we're all going to hell."

That would be like if I said:

Is Islam the dumbest crap or what? Who else here thinks the concept of a towel on a guy's head is the dumbest thing you've ever seen in your life and possibly the afterlife?

I’m not familiar with other religions so I suppose I could get accused of being out of touch but when I see this kind of retarded shit I can't help feeling we're all going to hell.

Sure there are millions of Muslims in the world, but they usually just blow shit up, not a single bit or good morals that I’ve seen.

Now that may be a bit extreme of an example, but you get the point. If you are going to voice an opinion, voice it in a mature way that doesn't make you sound like a 12 year old kid.

And don't make sweeping generalizations based on limited experience, which, when it comes to Buckethead's music, you have very little experience, as if you've listened to more than three of his best known songs, you'd realize that he doesn't just shred all the time, and has one of the deepest and most diverse catalogs of any musician.

Okay?
There's no such thing; there never was. Where I am going you cannot follow me now.

Actually, if I'm really honest, I think making posts bashing any musician, while obviously being ignorant of their catalog is the dumbest crap I've come across recently. Particularly so when that musician's catalog is and large and varied as Buckethead's.
My name is Tom, feel free to use it.
