The worst one I have ever heard was REO Speedwagon's live album, as for the best I'd say Cheap Trick at Budokan.

Cheap Trick rocked. I have to admit I like Frampton Comes Alive, though it's not at the top of the list. Springsteen's triple live album is on my list only because I was at one of the shows that wound up on the album. And live Allman Brothers makes the list.

But the ultimate live album might be the Woodstock soundtrack, just for Santana and Alvin Lee.

When the idea of "The Greatest Live Albums" pops up, there are only two albums that will jump into my head; The Allman Brothers Band - Live At Fillmore East and Little Feat - Waiting For Columbus.

Period.

^^Truth. I had Waiting For Columbus on in the car yesterday, great album. I'm also partial to Band of Gypsys, Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out, and Roxy and Elsewhere.

Off topic: Jazz Funeral, you should jump on that chat we set up from time to time.
How to achieve Frank Zappa's guitar tone:

Step 1: Buy a Gibson SG
Step 2: Insert Green Ringer, EQ, 3 dead squirrels and a microwave into said SG
Step 3: Plug in and freak the **** out.

Are you talking about those weird sphincter-spasms where it feels like there's a ghost dick in your ass for a little while and then it just disappears?

I grabbed a nice vinyl copy of Cream's Live Cream volume 2 last week. Definitely a good purchase.

Kiss - Alive!

Iron Maiden - Live After Death

--------------

Let me tell you something, listening to these awesome records is one thing but actually seeing the groups during their heyday (KISS in 79, Maiden in 85) it's a completely different thing. These two groups were the best when it comes to putting on a live performance.
