hey guys i have a boss RV-5, and just yesterday when i plugged it in my guitar sound dosent go through to the amp unless the pedal is on, with the pedal off no sound. the battery is good, you guys ever have this problem? should i just return it or should i try getting it fixed at some musical electronics store?

open it up (assuming that that doesn't invalidate your warranty) and see if anthing is visually toastsed.

but more than likely if you just got it yesterday, take it back to the shop as a defect.
