Today was like a bad dream. I knew it was going to happen one day and today was the day. I picked up my RR Jackson to start playing and Bam!!! OMG!! I was so freaked out I didn't even want to look because I just knew it wasn't going to be good. It was such a loud noise my reaction was like finger nails on a chalkboard but my mind was thinking about 5 spinning machete's just chopped up my baby!! I have a pic of the tip where it hit. I haven't even really looked at it very close yet to see how the tuner is doing because I'm really too afraid to look. But I do see like a little crack in the paint. I hope I didn't mess this guitar up.

At least it was only a RR Jackson and not a PRS. Just kidding!!!! Sorry to hear about the accident.

You might be able to buff out that orange line, but the crack in the finish is permanent, unless you have someone repair it. I think I'd just let it go - not worth the expense to fix it. Just don't do it again!!!

I had a paint chip come off my Strat around the neck joint, took some wood with it too so I super glued the sucker back on, but you can still see the crack. I have no idea how that happened.

At least it's not on the tip of the longer horn which tends to happen on most RR's. That is just heart-breaking. Don't worry, it looks fixable.

it was going a fast as it could go. I thought for sure the tip was going to be cracked. I was very lucky. That damn 83' RR Jackson is a tuff piece of wood no doubt. damn lucky all I can say. I'm just so glad nothing else happened.

yea this is what happened. I switched my jam room and this room has a fan on the ceiling and also a bed in the room and the bed is really high like 2 times higher than a normal bed maybe. And I had one guitar next to a chair and my Jackson was on the bed.

I also had a big 13x19in. EPSON Stylus Photo 1400 printer on the floor next to the bed. But even with printer next to the bed that wasn't the reason why it hit the fan.

This damn bed is so big that if I stood my guitar straight up and had the tail end sitting on the bed it will hit the fan. And I just wasn't used to having a ceiling fan in jam room and when I reached to get the guita I just picked it up and bam I don't even think I lifted the guitar up in the air .

Thats the last time I put any of my guitars on that bed under the fan. Never again!!

how did you know "it" was going to happen?

did you have a lot of near misses?

because yea, that's a good indication that you could hit it. if you don't move the fan, or where you stand/jump/pose/whatever.
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, then it hit me.

yea I know but I try so hard to take the best care of my guitars. But when something so stupid like this happens. I'm such an idiot. I need to stop altering my brain cells or something!! lol I need my ass kicked after that episode. But I think my baby will be alright. I've had that guitar for 13yrs and that was the worst yet. tuff baby though took a serious slapping .. but man just the sound of it is bad enuff!! lol ahhh she's ok

It will be perfectly fine. That crack is just a finish crack, if that.

thank god for that yea just on the finish. I spend so much time with these guitars way to much time I'm sure my wife would say. especially the RR Jackson that guitar is a 83' 1st batch of RR Jackson's made serial #0202 I damn near sleep with this thing in my hands... hahaha

damn now this is just too damn freak'n funny man!!! nice call hilarious stuff. I think maybe your right. You know it's possible I was putting the strap on and maybe I extended my guitar some to get it on. It's possible.

It's all just a blank memory now!! I try to eras it out of my mind!! hahahahaa lol crazy (<*$&(&^%&^> stuff man!! hey my wife tell's me all the time at least a few times a week that I love my guitars more than I love her. She even tell's me to go make love with my guitars. I just say "yea I do" and "yes I will" lol

I think the tuner took most of the hit because I'm not sure if it would've only hit the tip if the wood would of been able to take the impact. either that or the tip is METAL hahahha not!!
well it's a lesson learned

please don't try this at home guys you might not be as lucky I was

ok I will be completely honest this wasn't the 1st time I hit this fan with the tip of a guitar. It is the 2nd time I hit this damn fan. The 1st time it was my brand new ESP Jeff Hanneman Signature Series but that time the fan was on a low spin and it didn't hit that much.

I freak'd out then that was about 1 month ago and I had the guitar for not even 1 week. lol thats it I just can't lay them guitars on that bed anymore.

Next Tuesday is the delivery day for my ESP NV-STD BLK and if I'm even caught anywhere close to that damn fan I will kick my own ass. seriously

maybe he was putting on the guitar thuss moving his head onto the strap and i myself dont bow my head for nobody so neigther my guitar.

it doesn't look that serious on the picture. to be extra sure always go to your local technician or shop and let them see it in person.

i also have a ceiling-fan in my room and i also know that one day i might be stupid enough not to watch out and hit the thing with my guitar. untill now i haven't luckily i dont think a gibson headstock can cope with that force. xD

hahaha well I guess your right how much thinking does it take to pick up a guitar? Well apparently it doesn't take much. But in my case seems like I need to think a little more.

the only technician I take it to is myself!! hehe

yea have a fan in my jam room is something I haven't had to think about ever. And I just need to slow down and I have. Still can't believe it. I will admit it was a very stupid move and it almost cost me the tip of my Jackson.

Nope.

Battle scars come from playing shows, not accidentally hitting your guitar on a fan because you weren't paying attention.

Also, true battle scars afford you the opportunity to tell great stories about how they happened; I would be embarrassed if I did what the OP did.

Seriously... I'd be more worried about the fan blade than the guitar. Hard rock maple is much stronger than the pine/cherry/cedar/oak that they make those wooden blades from.
Then there's this band called Slice The Cake...

Bunch of faggots putting random riffs together and calling it "progressive" deathcore.
Stupid name.
Probably picked "for teh lulz"

hahaha well this OP guy has plenty of those Battle scars your talking about from my band days. But the band I'm in now isn't doing any shows yet, soon enough though, I'm sure I'll have something else to talk about. hahaha

As far as being embarrassed lol I think if I had any embarrassment for what I did, I sure wouldn't of got on here to tell you about it. Was it a stupid thing I did? Hell yea I'll be the 1st to admit it. Oh wait! yea, I already did that!!... hahahaha

lol I really don't think my 81' Les Paul Custom would of survived that either. It probably would of ripped the head stock in 1/2. But I don't play that guitar very much in the last 13yrs I put some ZW EMG's in it about 6 months ago though. I've had that guitar for 30yrs. that would of been really F'd up to see that happen.

That guitar is my collection baby!!

No, I'm not a Epson employee

& I did take a plea bargain and pleaded guilty to a lesser charge to * long winded story teller * 3 months probation and a fine. Then I had to write 30 times to the Judge "I will not be a long story teller" I'm going to try hard not to violate my probation on this mater. I'm going to classes twice a week for 6 months. Thanks for calling me out!! bro

Thank God, it wasn't my penis, I don't really want to get a new fan for hitting my wiener!

Ok yea!! my Johnson ok well, I think I see where your hand's at!! don't look down.. and just let it go bro!! you can do this!!

The FAN!! hahaha I'm going to have pieces of that fan with me when I'm -6' from ground level.

Ha! that's if there's even going to be any of that motha F'n fan left, after my guitars shred the liv'n spin right out of that s^%# friggin damn fan!! hehe whoa t!!

BTW: you don't work for the Palm's Casino do you? Try not to give away any of your bad habits!!

Your name isn't Arnold is it? Arnold Palmer? check'n, be check'n urself into rehab!! lol no

hey man don't take me seriously please I'm just messin with ya. I just got on a roll there. I love this site. I don't even want the guy who was glad it wasn't my Johnson mad at me.

oh s&^$ I think I'm violating my probation again.

no really thanks guys for all the replies and comments I appreciate it more than you know....
