The 4CM is the best way to use both your amp's preamp and the HD's amp models. If you don't care about using the amp's preamp then you might find going straight into the amp FX return. If you don't care about using amp modeling on the HD then just plug into the front of the amp.

Here's a link explaining 4CM for the Boss., but it's basically the same for the HD...

Ty now can I use reg instrument guitar cables? I just wanna take advantage of what the hd500 has to offer. The fact that my devil can sound like 16 diff amps is amazing.

It will still sound like an HD500 into a Deville. Not like an HD500 into a Dual Rec, JCM800, and Bassman.

What you can do is plug it strait into the PA for live shows, while laughing at your drummer for his inability to do the same thing

EDIT: If you do play a gig like that, I recommend you make the patches with headphones, not through your amp. The PA will not color your tonez.

Reading is Fun.

Now I'm disappointed cause I wanted my devil to sound sweet. I think I bought the wrong device. I just wanna hook it to the deville and have it sound nice. I got a gig sat and I'm nervous cause I don't want my sound to suck balls . What to d? Need some reassurance!!!

I'm sure it will sound great! You definitely made a fine investment. However,. if the core of your sound disappoints you, get a new amp. Unless, of course, you really like the pedal, in which case a self-powered PA would do wonders for practice.

i gigged basically with a fender frontman and a couple of boss pedals. the gigs were still good and they were still enjoyed by everyone. i'm going to guess more then 90% of people have no idea about tone at a gig.

if you play 80's stuff at this gig?

just plug the OCD into the deville and crank it up a bit.

and let 'er rip. maybe back the treble down a little.

Messing with new tones through new gear for a first rig is one of the worst things you can do right now. The HD500 is an awesome investment, but not something you should use for the gig.

Given that it's a new experience for you 1,001 things can and probably will go wrong. The last thing you want to be doing is bending over and twiddling with your settings while the audience waits. Arguably, for your first impression that can be worse than bending over in the prison showers.

Simplify your rig and just play for your first gig. Get to know your HD500 better before bringing it onstage.

I'm pretty confident you can get some great tones out your HD500. Just set up a few patches, tap, and go!

I am a bit confused about your 'devil' amp and what the goal of the deville is - along with the other pedals to Greg's point.

Also, I see you've created a lot of threads on this topic and maybe english is not your first language so I apologize if I came across as gruff

Good pout on not using hd5Oo for this gig. Ya I can use the 3 I got. Only prob is I need a delay for feel like making love.I'll bring hd 500 and my other pedal just in case. Were Playing for a hour.
Another pointer for first gig
