Hi guys. I currently have a zw overdrive pedal that I use in front of my amp, but I find that when I stop playing it is very noisey.

Would a tube Screamer still tighten up the sounds but be quieter?

Thanks

I do use the noise gate. It's last in my board

turn the gain on the ZW down then. or you have crappy grounding in your house. how many things are plugged into the wall btw?

It's at the studio's with my amp in that socket and nothing else. If I then the gain down would I not lose the Idea of why I use it?

If you're using your overdrive to push your valves, gain isn't nessesary.

You have an ENGL Fireball, use that, boost it with the ZW. the ZW is a crappy pedal, it's going to sound noisy if you use it as an overdrive/distortion.
turn volume full, gain real low, tone to taste + amps distortion = profit

I'm wantin to use it to clean my tone up so Il try that next practice, but would I be better off with something else?

It should be fine so long as you're setting it properly. When using an overdrive to boost and tighten up your sound - use it over your already distorted amp, turn up the volume/level on the pedal and turn down the overdrive/gain.

ah right, i do use it over a already overdriven amp, but set the gain high, that must be where i am going wrong. Will try it like that next time.
