I've tried fender site and many others but can't seem to date this serial. Made in mexico fender 5 string mz9499657

MZ9 + 6 digits is the 2009-2010 production year.

Tostitos nailed it on the head, i'll break it down for you just to be useful.

M=Mexico
Z='00
9=09
4=April
99657=production number

Now the odd thing about Fenders is that the serial is always two years (eg, your being a 2009-2010) is because the necks and bodies can lay around in the factory for quite sometime before they are ever attached to something.
you would have to take off the neck and look at the neck joint sticker to see when the body was actually made.


Side note: Fender typically uses letters for the decade instead of a number. For instance N=90's E=80's

It's because production can overlap years. For example a year's run on a model may start in the summer of one year and follow into the next. Having the parts laying around is just a byproduct of that.
