1. must be loud enough to play with a full size band but not too big and somewhat easy to carry. (i already have a half stack)

2. has to have multiple weird effects and tones that i can experiment with

3. and this one i can go without but id like to have something with a loop program in it, or a loop pedal on the side.

and i only want to spend 300-400

help a brotha out gimme some suggestions or ideas for this rig

sounds like you want one of the higher wattage vypyrs. i don't really know of any amps that do the third thing...

Vypyr Tube w/ Sanpera. Any of the sizes you want, they're all attainable in your budget (used). You may only be able to get the 60 though in order to get a Sanepra as well.

Lots of things the first to come to mind are a Peavy Vypyr 60 or75

Vox Valvetrinx 50 or even the VT80+

Any of those are in that ball park any of them will eat a spider for lunch.

Techincally, he's right, i believe it has a looper feature and the other things he asked for.

Still wouldn't get it.

The spider fits all 3 of your criteria, junk amp or not.

You should probably mention the type of music you plan to play and maybe what sound your going for. If you want to play with effects and a looper, I would suggest getting pedals.

The Line 6 Spider 4 75 has the features you are looking for, but lots of people prefer the Vyper/VOX over it. The Vyper gets the most love around here for hi-gain styles, while the Fender Mustang is the clean style choice. The Vox lies in the middle of these. The spider has a couple of diecent settings, but it is not all that great in sound. The only spider I would consider is the spider valve, but that is way out of your range unless you go used.

Why is everyone suggesting the Spider IV when there is the.

SPIDER VALVE.

The MKII has the looper as well.

which would do everything he's asking for at a WAYYY better quality.

It would stretch TS's budget a bit tho.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the line 6 brand. They make some fantastic products. Don't hate just because of the spider...

The Roland Cube 80XL might be what you want, it is pretty portable, has a lot of effects, and a 80 seconds looper.
#19
If your band has a PA system then you could look into a Pod HD. I haven't played one personally, but people say they're good and they certainly have plenty of effects and a looper. Quite portable too, assuming you're not the guy who has to bring the PA.

Line 6 makes awesome amps, pedals, and more.... As a brand they are awesome.... Even the spiders are pretty good for what they cost. Although I much prefer amps that do one thing really really well...

+1

i'd say either the vypyr tube 60w combo or the 120w combo, but invest in the matching sanpera 1 or 2 pedal to unlock all the features, including the looper, only thing i wish mine had is an effects loop >< oh well, ^^
