You can just restore down the window and then maximize it again and it goes away.

(As in the the middle button between the x and - at the top right)

It's most likely just that your 3 different computers all suck and/or have problems with their respective harddrives.

For some reason my version of Chrome started crapping out on me, and instead of downloading the latest version, I decided to try FireFox 5.

It's been hell. Chrome is so much better. I'll be switching back very soon.

How do you know your 2011 computers doesn't have memory corruption or something? Nearly 10% of application crashes on Windows systems are due to heap corruption.
